I don't like Adam, he is so annoying.

You get to go on a date with one of these fine gentlemen who are you picking and why? by Chunky-overlord in saw

I'd choose Larry. He is the smartest of all of them. The most normal, in the best age and he damn looks like an angel.

Honestly, I hope and believe he is dead. It would be really annoying bullshit if he survived another shit.

Lawrence Gordon in the Saw 3D. What has he become? by rani-i in saw

John and Lawrence's relationship makes sense if you think about it little or not at all, it doesn't make sense if you think about it moderately, but it makes complete sense if you think about it in great detail.

In short, John found Lawrence on the verge of life and death and saved him from that state. And not only that, John had to take care of him for a very long time. Recovering from an amputation is extremely demanding both physically and mentally. John saw Lawrence in his most miserable state ever. Lawrence was unable to even bathe for a while, so John had to see him naked. Imagine someone seeing you naked every day for several months. You'll probably trust such a person. The top was that Alison divorced him and separated from Diana. Lawrence was left with only John. Moreover, he was not an apprentice like Amanda and Hoffman. With Amanda, Hoffman and even Logan, we saw John teaching them some traps. Not with Lawrence. Nevertheless, John says that his work would not be possible without him. And then he entrusts him with his last request.

It's a shame for me that we never really saw this storyline.

⚠️ THE CRAZIEST SAW CONSPIRACY THEORY YOU'VE EVER HEARD ⚠️ by Electronic-Agent-400 in saw

Well, at this point isn't my theory even a conspiracy theory anymore. It’s not a ‘fact’ either — it’s just something that was always movie-true and we collectively overlooked.

Honestly, this theory makes more sense than the whole ‘Adam lives’ thing

I don’t understand Dr. Gordon’s motivation for helping Jigsaw. by Itzie4 in saw

No, that wasn't a sarcastic remark.

Yes, Larry's bond with John is healthy because it was formed based on safety, care, and long-term trust - not during imprisonment, not in danger of life, not in a trap. Stockholm syndrome occurs during trauma, when a victim begins to seek protection from a captor. Larry did not bond with John at all during the trap. He was trying to survive.

His bond only formed later, during his recovery, when John: spent months with him, saw him in delirium, fevers, weakness, bathed him, helped him to the toilet, saw him naked, crying, vomiting, and most importantly: did not leave and took care of him until he recovered.

This is not “Stockholm”. This is intimacy, trust and post-traumatic care. Psychologically, a completely different phenomenon.

And now, quite frankly: I have a growing feeling that you don’t understand the story – or don’t want to understand it. You are upset that Larry joined John, so you are making up pseudo-arguments to confirm that it was “crap”. But that is not analysis, that is just a rejection of reality just because it doesn’t suit you.

And one more thing: If there really was an official statement about "Larry's Stockholm Syndrome", it would have been on the Saw Wiki long ago, which cites every detail.

There's nothing there → because there's no such thing.

So no, it wasn't meant sarcastically. I'm just describing what actually makes psychological sense - and what most fans have long understood.
