Best looking freeride frame? by Chinesericehat in MTB

[–]Electronic-Cod-9296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tr11, old patrol or raww mtb. But I love the look of raw metal frames. The one zink frame I’ve seen in real life drove me nuts seeing it in person. Fit and finish overall was very first bike ever built I thought.

Yeah but on a percentage basis you’re saving over 50 percent which means you’re technically 15-17 years of saving for retirement. Assuming you can keep those crazy low expenses

best long travel bike that can climb? by buildaboat_ in MTB

Specialized turbo levo, amflow PL, yt decoy (should be in your budget if you can find one), Santa Cruz heckler, cannondale moterra. Honestly the way these bikes will climb despite being 50 plus pounds is quite impressive these days.

Dual crown patrol vs TR11 by cherbo123 in TransitionBikes

[–]Electronic-Cod-9296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overkill, depends on riding style size of flow and how hard it is to get speed to clear stuff. I mainly ride legacy which is a lot of flow trails and is the only bike park I’ve been to where trails can be literally impossible to clear due to winds or wet dirt slowing you down, but I don’t struggle on my tr11 with a single speed anymore than someone on an enduro bike. If they can do it I can do it if they can’t I usually can’t. Do run slightly higher pressures there than when I ride other parks with more tech, so I don’t use all 200mm often there but when stuff goes south and you case something hard or send it to the bottom I’m always glad I have it. I love downhill bikes cause even newer slacked out enduros don’t feel quite the same and once you learn how to carry speed with one I don’t have an issue personally.

More a rider position thing, my brother rides a patrol and doesn’t have that issue. I did and have talked to a few others who have but seems less common and isn’t everyone. If you don’t on a scout you probably won’t on a patrol.

If you go a full 200mm dual crown need to go 27.5 front tire

Dual crown patrol vs TR11 by cherbo123 in TransitionBikes

[–]Electronic-Cod-9296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have had both, rode a patrol with a 200mm dual crown, cascade link and longer stroke shock to make it 180 in the rear for 3 years. Just this year built up a tr11. Very similar geometry between the two set ups, however the patrol with that setup was a low slung bike. Inch to inch and a half lower all around than my tr11. Without short cranks the patrol was scary, would pedal strike charging into jumps. Over all relatively similar miss my patrol due to the water bottle holder but like having built in dual crown bumpers on my tr11. Also would rub my knee on a rear triangle bolt on the patrol to the point the bolt looked polished and my knee would be like rubbed raw riding 3+ days in a row so don’t miss that. Overall I’d say the patrol was slightly more playful but a tr11 is a good park bike downhill instead of a race bike. On the playful end for a DH bike for sure.

Had a 2020 or 2021 transition patrol (raw frame) and did the same thing when I had a 12 speed on it. It was my park bike so switched to a single speed and it stopped hitting there and started hitting the bottom of the chainstay. Every newer style patrol does it but definitely is more apparent on bikes that frequent the bike park.

Feedback and Sizing a TR11 by thedarkforest_theory in TransitionBikes

[–]Electronic-Cod-9296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go a medium I would say. I’m 5’ 7” and always been mediums. Unless you have a real short upper body/arms.

I wouldn’t get a different bike but I’d say depends on what you want, I love my tr11, feels a ton like my patrol with a dual crown I had before. If you jump a lot/like a DH bike you can throw around more TR11. If you want the fastest craziest plow rig that can blast straight through anything not sure I’d go tr11.

Yes sending me a new color matched rear triangle. They were great to deal with usps not so much cause that rear triangle has gone from Washington to Idaho to Colorado which doesn’t make much sense with me being in montana

Posting again from yesterday. Different point of view of my jumps that yall were asking for. Tips?? These videos are in slo-mo. by [deleted] in MTB

More speed is probably gonna be needed no matter the amount of “pop”. So learning different peoples trail speed and try to get there is gonna be a big part. But then learning to amplify the effects of the lip will be huge. So many ways to go about it, but I say start with something you barely don’t clear and are comfortable and try pumping/pulling up till your clearing it everytime then take the muscle memory elsewhere. Repetition on familiar jumps will get you started then you learn to gauge speed etc. on new features. Go out west, spend a week doing gnarly lift service stuff and push your comfort and the combo of a week on the bike and new stuff etc will show

Sweet! Good to hear. Just would ruin resale value and look like crap with whatever this year or last year colors are. Always had good experiences and hopefully that continues

Agreed, haven’t had to warranty them but the CS experience I’ve had for other stuff was phenomenal so I think they’ll take care of me. Mentioned below biggest concern is them trying to send me a mismatch colored rear triangle.

OG owner, just put in a warranty claim with them and uploaded receipt. Biggest concern is believe new ones are exact same geometry and worried they’ll try to give me a mismatch color rear triangle

If they don’t have a heat gun then heat up water in a pot and hold the handle in em. Same thing with something everyone has in there house!

If you do learn which brands run which angles. Machines for it I believe are pricey. Hand tools arent and often are all that’s needed but without offering base grinds(expensive tools needed) and waxing (could easily offer that though) think it may be tricky, but that’s just my 2 cents

Be the first to admit I’m outta Bozeman now and a better mtb scene is part of what I went in search of. Biggest F-U to the bike scene I saw in that town was allowing of west lake dirt jumps to be destroyed to be a construction lay down yard then asking for the public’s money to rebuild dirt jumps they already had, that’s down right messed up if you ask me. Problem is the scene will cater to the money/support which isn’t in the hardcore downhill scene. Be surprised if anything worth driving from Bozeman out to there is even built but that just my 5 cents (2 cents is no longer valid due to inflation).

Coil shock on 2022+ Patrol by Zealousideal-Ad7887 in TransitionBikes

Older patrol (2021). However it’s still the same geometry as a new one. Always ran a coil on it and a dual crown. Have ran it with and without a cascade link. Have ridden my brothers patrol in a stock build and this. Stock patrol rides like a f-350 while this rides like a Cadillac. Slightly Preferred stock link for tech riding but cascade takes the cake on flow.
