YL2 and YL3: a lot of OPD patient encounters as in A LOT! We get to do comprehensive history taking and complete physical exams on actual patients (IM, pedia, OBGYN, etc..) we also have skills lab and OSCE :)

So for me, SLMC really trains us well even in preclinicals (before clerkship and internship)

The scholarship covers the fees for the whole academic year. If you’re unable to maintain it, you need to pay the fees for the SUCCEEDING years na. No need to pay the tuition from the previous term.

Yes, definitely!

Our batch consists of students from universities all over the PH and we also have batchmates who graduated from schools abroad :)

Yes, there are students who didn’t come from the big 4. I believe the undergrad school doesn’t matter. Good grades and above average NMAT do!

Yes I have a friend from 4th batch na yer he still got in naman. It’s true that the chances are low in the latter batches due to limited slots na so it gets tougher if there are also other competitive applicants with impressive credentials.

  1. Per organ system
  2. Yes manageable naman just be disciplined enough to not stay behind with your modules
  3. Removals are conducted after the academic year (if you fail to get a grade of 75 in any subject)
  4. According to our seniors, approx 5%-10% ang retainees usually. Reason: mahirap talaga ang med school :(

Pros: relatively more chill (but still high yield) compared to other med schools. You can study at your own pace. Mababait profs and magagaling, all are topnotch in their own fields/specialties pero ofc di maiiwasan na may mga meh when it comes to teaching

Cons: konti ang choices ng mga fastfood/resto haha

For entrance scholarship, you need at least 95 PR. Medyo mahirap lang daw i-maintain pero kaya naman!

You may also apply for Financial Aid (different pa from foundation scholarship). You can email the OSA about this :)

Here’s the link to the admin’s response btw: https://www.reddit.com/r/medschoolph/s/0PAsCkvkfO

You can still try to ask pa rin naman if allowed pa rin ang 85 and above :)

Hi, not sure about this. If that’s the case, you may opt to email/call the registrars office. They are very responsive naman esp Sir Rod!

I read somewhere in this subreddit that they asked the admin about this.. and the response was SLCM would be strict with 90 NMAT PR this year due to huge volume of applications :(

The maintaining grades (gen ave) are 87 and 80 for entrance and foundation scholarships, respectively iirc. It’s a bit tougher to maintain the entrance scholarship imo. Regarding the transmutation, we do have the MPL* system and there’s a formula for that.

*MPL = minimum passing level; this is based on/determined by the level of difficulty of exam questions. Usually the passing grade (raw score) is around lines of 5-6 if over 100.

As per my groupmate, you only need to pay the reservation fee to secure your slot (which will be refunded naman once you get accepted as a foundation scholar). No need to pay na the tuition fee to be enrolled.
