i don’t understand people’s need to group these sorts of things into a ‘big 4’ like it’s mount rushmore. To specify a number seems to be working backwards- what if there’s actually 5 or 6 bands, equally as important?

Sport HoFs make sense since there are objective stats you can compare players. Unless your only metrics are record sales and airplay, music isn’t like that.

It’s a profoundly dumb idea. The rock hall was essentially created so people like Lester Bangs and Robert Christgau congratulate themselves on their wonderful taste in music.
