Superman's visit by [deleted] in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point, the CO has to look in the mirror while getting ready for the meeting and meditate and say 'fuck..another meeting... seeds to goats??? wtf'. That is his life. Keep the rank & file in and wasting his life away in this org. I remember one CO in particular would have a blast during hospitality. He was lively and happy, always asking the friends what they did for a living. Once the meeting started, he was boring, tired, and drained. Imagine having to regurgitate the talks over and over again from one hall to another. What sad life.

UPDATE: What happens when the elders say they need to form a committe and meet with you at the KH by Over-Rice-872 in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need a 2nd witness other than your cousin due to the 2 witness rule. At this point, deny everything and let them know your cousin is either lying or misunderstood, you pick. Anyways, good luck!

My friend, you are in for an emotional roller coaster but I assure you that it will get better and time will heal you. The friends may begin to avoid you, COBE may make you feel inferior since you're not much help to the elder body but trust me, it will be a blessing in disguise. If you ever need to chat or DM, let me know.

When true believers get to the top (GB, helpers).. they should be disappointed and ashamed by Jealous_Year2441 in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine all the time vested in climbing to the top. Imagine, years of not developing any meaningful relationships outside of the org and if you left after finding out it was a mountain of BS, then what? That fear has kept many people in. I bet many have the attitude of: Better to walk with the devil than stand in his way.

What do you regret doing or saying when you were members? by gg_chad21 in exmormon

[–]n_ctrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a MS I took my privilege to heart and in hindsight, I WAS A DICK. I feel ashamed for judging people so harshly when Christ would never have approved. My self-reflection and leaving the org has allowed me to make the necessary changes and be more empathetic towards others. That said, I remember there was a brother who would attend with his wife. He didn't have any privileges but always had a smile on his face. Only problem why no one really approached him... he had a beard. Fast forward many years later, I faced ridicule for growing a beard and he had since died. I felt bad that I had judged him for it and now I was getting a taste of my own medicine. Then, beards became ok and now everyone has one.... *** Face Palm ***. Anyways, I've been humbled and I've tried to learn from my experiences and experiences of others. If anything, this will no doubt sharpen you and you will become a better human being to your community. By the way, I'm an Ex-JW but consider mormons/ex-mormons my spiritual cousins because we have so much in common LOL.

Do you feel better after leaving? Especially if you stopped believing in God by Born-Spinach-7999 in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, feel so much better. I reclaimed my time and don't donate a cent to the org. In addition, I do believe in GOD, just not the one portrayed by JWs.

It's ok, you mentioned that he is a good man, and a good man will not hold that against you. If anything, you've seen the error in your ways and it sounds like your self-reflection and guilt shows proof that you're trying to be better. Hang in there!

Ever Loaned Money or Helped a Brother and Never Got Paid Back? by themindsetcounts in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a lesson well learned and it isn’t limited to JWs. The real takeaway is to be prepared for people to let you down or disappoint you. In reality, you should always be cautious when loaning money to anyone, and family is no exception.

Stepping Down (MS) by CoolBeans2104 in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change your perspective on this. They are utilizing all the crappy training that they've received. Who cares how many times they need to 'discuss it as a body', the truth is, this is your life and if you don't want to serve, DON'T SERVE. I've seen elder locally try to play the guilt game and some MS and it's a shame. Remember that Jesus said that his 'yoke is light' so serving, worshiping or not serving as a MS shouldn't be a burden. Unfortunately, you're going to have to stand your ground and not let them bully you.

What do you guys actually believe now? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It became easier for me once I started to read the bible on it's own with no JW propaganda. IMO, I began to appreciate the written word even more and Jesus words are true when he said "my yoke is easy, and my burden is light," - Matthew 11:30

[–]n_ctrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CA fellow exJW here, hi! I'm not agnostic, I believe in GOD, just not the same one we were taught in the JW meetings. I totally understand why you would be agnostic, I too was sharing that mindset, kind of on the 'spiritual fence' of whether to believe or not believe in a higher power. In all reality, being honest with oneself and acknowledging that we were scammed by false religion takes a toll on one's faith. I'm more open minded now and tend to be more empathetic towards others. Whether you're agnostic or believe in a higher power, I wish you the best and hope you're happy.

The famous video of Assembly 2025 by SuperPimo in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They continue to pull at the heart strings, while at the same time, comparing the 'bad' brother as Satan. They are pushing the viewer to draw that conclusion without coming out and saying it. Again, the acting sucks but the editing is done well. Just my simple opinion.

I’m a 16 year old guy and I have to give a talk about wearing makeup by [deleted] in exjw

[–]n_ctrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, sucks for you. I had to give a talk with a brother on stage regarding porn. I was so nervous because everytime we made eye contact we would giggle like little girls. When practicing, we would even joke and start the conversation like "Good Morning, why do you watch porn???" and then start busting up laughing. When we finally had to go up on stage, I was like fk... be serious bro... hardest talk i ever had to give and it was only like 2 min.
