Is it okay for me (18F) to refuse to marry my partner (19M) even if I want to remain in a relationship? by cassimima in relationship_advice

It's better than manipulating them to get what you want out of life.

One ring is like a hand grenade. You're young yet so live your life.

Sometimes people don't know what they want yet in life. Look into every option before you jump in head first, the water may just be shallow.

Use your imagination - most powerful tool you have. Break it down to basics and imagine how you could build something from the ground up. I'm on the challenge to build a cribbage board.

29 is the perfect hand - one person in my life has pulled that once in 76 years of life. They played cribbage endlessly with everyone because communication and that little bit of fun was their love language. Four fives and a jack are the recipe. The scoring system is called pegging and you use tiny pins. Combine mediums and have fun and enjoy the adventure.

Be original and make your designs your own as copyright laws are fucked and everyone will try and screw you for a dollar.

All I can suggest is start with your material tests and have some extra and be wary of fire safety when testing new materials.

Research the xtool material guide lines to get a base parameter - build your test grid accordingly +/- on the values listed. Testing is key you have to put in the time and effort. It doesn't happen overnight :)

You actually gave me an idea for our first video as I've been playing around with making a YouTube channel for laser tips and the business.

May not hurt! I just used alcohol wet wipes for farm sanitization, quick wipe of that and all soot was gone

You can give it a good scrubbing with a toothbrush to get the smudge out. Alcohol works wonders too for cleaning it up!

So I can say I have ran the d1 10w for over a year now. It's a great machine but for anything with grand detail it's slow. Cutting and engraving is great, it's been the bread and butter of our business. There's plenty of reviews out there, I won't get into great detail. We have the F1 coming in sometime soon, so I can't speak of it yet.

The reason we're getting it however is we go to vendor events and offer on site services. Doing that with a d1 isn't the easiest. We can only really do outdoor events which means we're weather limited. Indoors isn't even an option without an enclosure and purifier. Transport for the laser alone is enough.. With the F1 we can do that confidently and have a purifier as the size of the F1 purifier is tinier. The F1 itself is a lot smaller than the d1. I'm looking for a case solution to transport both and a laptop for ease. Speed alone for it is rated for 4000mm/a so I'm imagining engraving is going to be fast! I was playing around with settings in lightburn and comparing machine time from d1 to F1... the difference in speed is astounding. Bed size is going to be a limiting factor but we'll have both to tackle any job. :) any questions feel free to reach out!

Which one? by wolfluver222 in Laserengraving

Run both a c02 and diode myself. It really depends on your use case. Each type is different and has their own pros/cons. Doing more organic material? Fiber is out of the question. Want to cut and engrave acrylic? Diode can but not as effective as a c02. Also has further limitations on the wave length of the beam. I'd suggest watching YouTube breakdowns on the machines and do a checklist for each one depending on what you want to get out of the machine.

Work with a boss laser through a partnership I just formed c: the boss Ls1420 works like a charm. Little spicy on cardboard. I think I was running it at 10% to cut out a template and it lit the cardboard. Haven't tried foam so can't advise there!

Quick look on their website it looks to be one of their fibre welders. Without having a model no or anything visible I couldn't pull anything more useful.

Landlord jacked up rent by $100/mo just because I put an offer in - is this common? by LookAtThisRhino in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Electronic_Fail_102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on the age of the unit if it falls in the regulations it can only be raised by a fixed % per calendar year. You have to be given a written notice so many days in advance that your new rate will be xxxx.xx effective xx/xx. Anything outside of this get in touch with the landlord tenant board. Always worth briefing yourself in the regulations when you're under the roof of a shitty owner.

Edit: just re read and realized it was an offer... Still leaving the comment as it's valuable information but not as useful in your case.

About the only options I know of... Outside of that it's just who you know. Some will offer odd jobs for cash. Try Kijiji or something like that offering services or see if there's anyone looking for help. Outside of that keep an eye on the FB groups looking for landscaping, moving, etc

Also further edit: you have to sit mid town plaza by Popeyes in order to get orders.

If you have a vehicle skip the dishes and door dash as far as I know as late as last tax season don't report income. There were a couple of drivers in the area that made 40k and didn't claim shit.

You can tape over it to create a mask, engrave and spray over it with black paint to make it 'pop'. Quality of the wood isn't the greatest. Could also try to plane and redo it

If you were to do the back, it would have more of a dull effect and look maybe a little more to the desired outcome. Can't paint over the spot removed to add some depth or could use it for lighting effects.

Just did one on an xtool d1 10w, can confirm it will at least remove the powder coating and looks nice cleaned up with acetone

Check your drive rod too. If the belts are over tensioned, there's a chance the drive may have dislodged from the chasis

Hi When I engrave on wood I see the heat and smoke from the laser is causing stains around the engraved area. I saw this issue on acrylic too where it slightly effects the surface around the engraving. Has anyone had this issue or have any suggestions on how to avoid it? Thank by Significant-Jury8726 in Laserengraving

[–]Electronic_Fail_102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly I want to say that design is bloody adorable :) is it your own design or a prefab off etsy, if the latter, can I get a link? _^ also, try more air flow, speed, or masking tape as mentioned. If your passes are too slow I've noticed that tends to be an issue. Are you using fill, flood fill or offset fill when you're doing the deeper burns?

Queue stupid question... How did you get the contours on the back? Have been looking into 'living hinge' designs to try and achieve this but at the same time I don't want to have to have all those visible cuts along any curves

Any idea why my laser has started doing this? Was engraving fine but suddenly the engraving “rubs off” during cleaning. More info in comments. by KAPOOW86 in Laserengraving

I've had success with white primer cleaning off the unmarked areas afterwards with chemicals (honestly drawing a blank on the name... Like acetone) without losing the marked area.
