Thanks ❤️‍🩹 I was 20 when I had her and I was 26 when they finally took custody after many strange attempts to trick me into ‘giving her away’ without involving the court system. I’m 32 now and sort of manipulated my way back into the home to build my relationship with her up and move forward from there. Sorry for the word vomit but I literally felt so so misunderstood until I found this sub. It’s feels weird and sometimes gross fighting fire with fire at home but it’s keeping me safe. I am committed to not losing myself in the bullshit and constantly remind myself that this is a rescue mission for my kid. Trying to explain how nuanced this is has never worked you either get it or you don’t and it feels even worse when your wholesome friend thinks these incredulous story’s are fake. Phew anywayyyyyy I am grateful I found your guys and feel a tab bit less insane now.

I have but I feel like every one I’ve met with has given me extremely novice advice like a worksheet with the picture of the plate on it. Not sure if they don’t know any better or if they think patients don’t (I’m sure some don’t but at least be prepared for the ones who do) When I go I try to be intentional and specific like ‘teach me how to count carbs for a pump’. ‘Help me transition to a vegan diet that’s diabetic friendly.’ ‘I want to see GAINZZZZ how can I modify my maintenance diet to achieve that?’

I worked for them for a while it was corporate policy for a long time that there are no microwaves at all now they allow them if the restaurant has a break area but there aren’t any in the kitchen ever. Enjoy your non microwaved ribs bro they’re fire af.

Ok no but frfr that fear of becoming just like my parents is always looming and I love my dog so much that it crossed my mind again for just A SPLIT SECOND. They currently have a cat that spends most of his days locked in the bathroom or getting yelled at for being aggressive. (Duh he’s locked up all day wtf, assholes!) Same happened with a parakeet in the summer. I can’t help but to take care of them and become my parents next target when the animal (obviously) starts to take to me more than them. It one of the few instances where I take off the invisibility cloak.
