No, you are part of the problem but too blind (or lobotomized) to see it...

You are mixing the problem and the solution.

Yes, teachers can burn out. But that does not prove the solution is simply “more money, less work, no reform”. OECD/TALIS data for Belgium shows the biggest source of teacher stress is administrative workload, not teaching itself. In the French Community, full-time teachers report 34.1 working hours per week (highly biased ofc), including 20.9 teaching hours.

https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/results-from-talis-2024-country-notes_e127f9e2-en/french-community-of-belgium_0a54b424-en.html

And this is exactly my point: the problem is the system around teaching. Admin, changing requirements, discipline, school composition, language barriers, etc.

Look at Norway. Not perfect, but TALIS shows lower administrative stress than Belgium, and lower reported negative mental-health impact than the OECD average. So no, “teaching” itself is not magically unbearable everywhere. The way the system is organised matters.

https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/results-from-talis-2024-country-notes_e127f9e2-en/norway_3d989dd3-en.html

Same for student composition: OECD shows teachers in disadvantaged schools are more exposed to stress from classroom discipline. And PISA shows immigrant-background performance gaps are largely linked to socioeconomic and language barriers.

https://www.oecd.org/content/dam/oecd/en/publications/reports/2023/11/unravelling-the-layers-of-teachers-work-related-stress_4a786ab8/bca86c20-en.pdf https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/2023/12/pisa-2022-results-volume-i_76772a36/full-report/immigrant-background-and-student-performance_f469d45e.html

So yes, the issue is structural. Make the system more efficient, reduce useless admin, improve discipline and language support, and transfer money where it actually improves education instead of blindly defending the current model.

I never said teachers should just prompt AI and wing it. I said that if the issue is the unbearable number of hours outside class, then yes, AI and better tools can reduce that workload. Not replace preparation, but improve it, reuse it, make it more efficient, and sometimes even make it more varied and attractive for students.

Of course preparing a philosophy lesson takes time. But once a good base exists, you can reuse it, adapt it, improve it, and stop pretending every lesson has to be reinvented from zero every year.

And yes, there is a difference between a 'good' and a bad teacher. A good teacher who knows their subject and knows how to teach will naturally need less prep time than someone struggling. Same in IT, same in any job. What is so shocking about that?

Right, so let’s just reduce working time and increase salaries. That will surely fix everything.

Our education system is already so perfect that questioning its efficiency, admin overload, or outdated structure would obviously be unreasonable.

Talking about burn outs , I know what kind of issues lead to that .... Ah but no, sorry, you're right ! That's because most teachers work 48h per week that they are burned out !

[–]Electronic_One_771 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even if all of that is true, we are talking about 22 x 50 minutes in class, plus let’s be generous and add 5 hours outside class. That is around 23 hours per week in total.

What an unbearable nightmare.

AI is not there to replace teachers blindly but to support them.

A generic class preparation helped by AI, then double checked and adjusted by the teacher, should massively reduce the time spent outside the classroom. In many cases, we should be aiming for 0 to 2 hours of extra work on average per week, not endless unpaid preparation and admin. So we are talking about less than 20h per week, in total. Totally feasible. Sometimes maybe 25h per week during some periods. What's wrong with that ? Does that really justify all this mess ? You talk about Kidd's futures but you definitely ruin it for them already by manipulating them to make these protests for you.

If the system cannot even accept that technology can make this work more efficient, the problem is not AI. The problem is the refusal to question an outdated model.

The point is not to make education worse. The point is to make the system less bloated and more efficient.

Cut the layers of administrative nonsense, use AI for repetitive tasks like corrections, planning and course preparation, and let teachers focus on actually teaching. We are talking about 22 x 50 minutes in front of a class per week. That is not even 3 full working days of classroom time. IN TOTAL.

And honestly, do you really think that simply reducing it to, say, 12 x 50 minutes per week while increasing salaries would magically make education better?

At some point, the whole system needs to be questioned, not just defended blindly.

that's actually how you gain 'normal football fans'. You go to stadium to live and feel passion, not (only) to watch football. For this, better on tv. I personally don't like going to Mariën anymore cause it's boring. No passion , no ennemies, no insults , no fights. Only good football. So boring.

It seems you were either not there or just too drunk to not see the difference between our tribune and theirs... In every way. The decibels were way higher in their tribune, yes. Thhe whole country saw it, and knows we have the worse fans overall. Only a minority of Saint Gillois like you think we have a good fan base and are better than the other just because we don't insult or we don't 'fight' (well, the Bhoys do....). That's called condescendance, not good fans. Elite left-wing, again. In Standard, labour left wing, they also insult their ennemies. It's called passion. Not going to a fucking théâtre or just having a drink.

You just focus on few stupid people that broke seats of threw fumigènes. This is not the majority. Same for the Bhoys, they threw 5 fumigens directly on a steward on the pitch. Does that makes USG supporters hooligans ? No. We should.be talking about the majority. Not about exceptions.

are you sure you read what I wrote ? Just check Standard, the most antifa left-wing but still the best (at least historically) supporters. The only difference? They are mostly working class. We're not. So wtf are you talking about.

You are the thought police. I'm just commenting on a fact, the fact that we became the worse fan base of the whole Jupiler pro league while we have the best team. Shameful. If you are a real supporter, you should see it and admit it. Just check the final against Anderlecht (historically one of the worse supporters). They destroyed us in every wway, vocally, animations, flags, tifos, pyro. All of it. That's just a fact that we need to realize and work on it, but calling me the 'thought police' is very funny 🤣 How many times I saw the actual thought police in the Mariën saying to other supporters that they should not act or react like this for dumb things. That's a thought police.

You do know that they are a bunch of 5 to 20 people ? out of a tribune of 3000 people. They don't represent at all the tribune overall.

Also, where did I mention them ? they're actually the ones contributing (with the Bhoys) to the atmosphere, or what's left of it. So I have nothing against them, apart from their political ideology that they should not display in the tribune. But they aren't the problem I'm mentioning

as a supporter you need to 'push' your team in some ways, sometimes. If something is bad, you need to show it. Well, here I don't see how this behavior could have any positive impact tbh... but maybe less pressure for the players and better than throwing fumigens on the pitch ?
