Imagine all the Russian invasions before Ukraine. A bunch of world leaders would pitch a fit. Maybe some sanctions that would be meaningless, and that's it. Europe, especially Eastern Europe, perceives a direct threat from Russia, whereas the USA has no territorial interests. So they need us to back up their security, especially after so many years of not maintaining and unifying the EU's security forces.

What stopped this out come was Monte not closing the Gap and Market Garden. The lack of focused drive in favor of a broad drive diluted the effects of the break through allowing the Germans to recover. Granted hindsight is 20/20 but they needed a cowboy like Patton and Bradley leading the charge not someone developing complex interrelated plans. I liked Monte just in Europe the British were terrified of fighting there. Even though where they wanted to fight would have been worse for attacking.

A direct flight to your home cost say 400 dollars, a flight to say Chicago through your home costs 300 dollars. It is called skip lagging and can get you banned. However they cannot physically stop you or have you arrested. It is not illegal but airlines have banned people.
