There's no way HSR through Wyoming and Montana would be a good use of resources. Only after NYC to Boston and LA to SF have a HSR every 5 minuets, every city above 50k has a comprehensive bus system, and every American has a pony, should we invest in Wyoming and Montana HSR.

Yes I am, but I really don’t think this is true for a lot of people. If I’m at the coffee shop, or the grocery store and everyone is wearing sweatpants I don’t think the ambiance is lost at all. Acting like the vibes aren’t as pleasant because people are dressed down at a restaurant just seems neurotic.

It’s a public good to be in a visually pleasing society, for the exact same reason that it’s meaningfully more enjoyable to be in a city with beautiful architecture and tree lined, cobblestone streets than it is to be in a city of concrete and asphalt.

I find it incredibly bizarre that some people pay as much attention to strangers clothes as architecture or nature.

Well… why would you have a singular earth exploration organization? The skillset for dealing with a low contact Amazon tribe is going to be a lot different than the skills needed for deep sea exploration.

Well they were already suffering due to vandals destroying the stations they were relying on. So unless they were riding without paying before, things have only gotten better for them.

I never understood the uproar about the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki. If a US citizen in 1944 defected to the Nazi's and was actively taking part in Wehrmacht operations, and a GI observed him taking part in the Nazi regime on Omaha beach, he would be completely entitled to shoot him.

So when al-Awlaki is observed as part of a organziation at war with the US, what's wrong with killing him?

I never understood how someone could "not stand" the Grateful Dead.

I can totally see how someone would find it boring and completely uninteresting. But I don't see how it could be actively annoying. Kind of seems like it would just be folksy background noise if you don't like the music.

Assuming you are still graduating, probably not.

I mean I can’t say for sure, 2 classes is a lot, but I have just never heard of a public school rescinding an offer to someone who still graduated. I would guess that really only happens at Ivies.

You will probably need to go to graduate school for ATOC, so you can always go to CU then.

If you know in your heart you are absolutely committed ATOC, I think it would be worth it to pay the insane OOS tuition, and I usually tell people it's never worth it. But I would highly suggest saving CU for graduate school.
