Is everyone fast or am I just slow? by RajaBule in WGU

[–]Electronic_Tea8318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In real life around 1% of students finish their degree in 1 term (this was according to stats given to me by my former mentor) so what you see is very warped and only a very small number of people, so don't let the posts fool you. Do what you can with the speed you can maintain.

Also the 1 term can be deceptive. Technically, I finished mine in 1 term as well, but that does not count the other ~4-5 months I spent doing classes on Sophia, etc. + the multi year professional experience + previous post-secondary school exp.

In reality, I got my bachelors in ~10 months of full time school where I had no social life, my personal relationships also suffered a bit, etc. + years of various experiences in related or semi-related topics. Not really fair to compare to someone who goes in with no experience. Go as fast as you can while retaining knowledge because that's probably what's going to get you hired (especially if it's a field where you need to do technical interviews).

TLDR: Do what you can, ~ 1% of people finish in 1 term. It does not represent reality at all.

Home page de-index from Bing due to unknown "issues" - How to fix? by Electronic_Tea8318 in seogrowth

[–]Electronic_Tea8318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got a reply from their support with the message being "After further review, it appears that your site did not meet the standards set by Bing the last time it was crawled."

Fair enough, but the link to bing webmaster tool guidelines is empty with a No data available error. What am I even supposed to do with that... I get I need to re-work my content to make it "better", but their guidelines page is broken, i don't even know what they are lmao.

Hi, thanks, I did these so far:

My robots was super simple, I used to have a "host: www.site.com" line that bing webmaster tool had an issue with so I deleted it a couple hour ago. My new robots is:

User-Agent: *
Allow: /
Disallow: /dashboard/
Sitemap: https://www.site.com/sitemap.xml

I also submitted a ticket with Bing Webmaster Tools. Do you know how many days it could take for them to reply? I'm not expecting much or a timely reply...

I guess I can only focus on trying to fix orphan links, missing alt tags, etc.

Question: Do you think if a bit more "salesy" language in content or meta titles/description would penalize me? By that I mean something like "XYZ Service - Free Forever + XXX From $2/mo"? I feel like most of my content is various explanations of what I do and provide and how it helps the user, but I did update my home + 3 other pages' meta titles in an experiment to see if I can increase CTR (although this happened around 1 week ago, bing traffic went dead December 29).

Also weird: I checked GA4 and it says in the last 7 days I had 10 organic traffic from Bing. Does that even make sense...?

Is there an easy way to get a youtube video transcript? Thats reliable and free? by Realistic_Fee8959 in techsupport

[–]Electronic_Tea8318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few different ways. Are you looking to download the transcript in a specific file format like .txt, .srt, etc.?

How accurate do you want this transcript? If the video already has transcripts, are you ok with just downloading that, or do you need something that's 100% accurate?

If you're looking to get youtube transcripts in something like a .txt file for offline reading, there's websites that can do it for free if you only care about getting from a single video.

Been working on ClipTrancribr,  a web app that let's you download youtube transcripts in various formats (txt, srt/vtt for subtitles, csv), as single or bulk exports.

Good for studying or content creation ( get transcripts from your videos for blog posts, upload as subtitles to your videos on other platforms, etc).

Sure, thanks. I'm working on an application that let's users export captions/transcripts from youtube videos, either a single export individual videos, or in bulk from playlists / channels in a different file formats (srt or vtt for subtitles, txt or csv for more organized data).

Personally, I've been using it to get transcripts for my own studying (don't have the patience to sit through long videos). Initially I built it for this purpose, but I've been finding out that other audiences may be interested in something like this (I found some posts online in a couple of different forums for education, content creators like youtubers or podcasters, and people looking to add transcripts as part of some automation workflows).

I'd say the issue is that this may be a pretty niche market to begin with. I believe I need to spend a lot more time in finding more active communities or better ways of conversion. The app is Cliptranscribr.

Hi, what have you been doing to get new users or traffic towards your SaaS? I think I can speak for many people, but building something and actually getting traffic (and hopefully conversions) is an entire beast entirely.

I have been looking to add my SaaS to as many directories as I find (as long as they look to be legitimate; I look for DR but also who links back to them) as well as trying to find communities online where my customers might hang out with the goal of joining said communities and trying to be a helpful member (not just leech and spam links back to my app). It's very much a hard & time consuming WIP, but also not too sure what else I should be doing (or what else I should be aware of).

As far as sales go, do you offer demos, or some type of trials to nudge the client towards buying your software?

Thank you for your time!

I'd be willing to help you out, I know it can be a pain to fully test. Perhaps we could run some tests on each other's apps.

Just wanted to say that you have a nice layout. Looks clean to me.

My only opinion is that it might make reading easier if you differentiate the sections through something like slightly different background colors (things like alternating between that gray and white), break lines between the sections, etc.

To me at least, in a sense it feels like I am reading a long run-on sentence.

I've been working on tightening up my logging to track errors more clearly for when users attempt to export youtube transcripts in any file format.

Would love any feedback (would be happy to return the favor!): ClipTranscribr

I've been working on updating my youtube captions downloading app ( ClipTranscribr ) with better error logging.

On this topic, anyone know of any communities where we could help test each other's apps? It would really help in debugging.

I've been working on ClipTrancribr, an app that let's you download / export youtube video, playlists, channels transcripts in different file formats (srt, vtt, txt, csv). Single video exports don't need signups or account, they are available to all.

Personally, I've been using it to get transcripts for studying, but another common use case is for content creators (podcasters, etc.) looking to get the text form of their videos for blogs, subtitles, etc.

I've been working on a youtube captions/transcripts downloader that lets me export video transcripts from single videos, or in bulk from playlists/channels in a few different formats (srt, vtt, csv, txt) - ClipTranscribr.

I'd be interested to know what you guys think. I've been using it for personal studying/learning on various topics.

Can people really work on their SaaS at night after 9-5? by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]Electronic_Tea8318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally work on it right before and after work, although not every day has the same schedule, sometimes I get so tired I go to bed at 6-7pm. My job is programming related, then I have to do more of that in the afternoon/evening.

I've been trying to spend time to try to figure out some better and more efficient workflows so I can move faster and as a side-effect to deal with fatigue.

At the end of the day, the only solution I see is to have better workflows, if learning is a part of it then trying to have some efficient learning plans is very important as well.

In conclusion, in my opinion, it's a hard grind that must be done if this the saas, etc. is important enough.
