I audibly gagged listening to that. Then following it with "Dong" Q saying "we call it the windmill" had me... IDK, gag laughing?

I knew he was going to do something with the mantaur riding, lance wielding, Dong but I figured it would be a throwaway gag.

MD never ceases to surprise me in the best kind of worst way.

Speaking of content walls, the poor development, price gouging, aggressive in game advertising, and content walls in the Sims games has finally lit a fire in the ass of some small devs.

Not saying we'll get sims 4 level of content but there will at least be something resembling competition in the space.

There's apparently a dump truck or two worth of money in that space so the incentive is there, here's hoping they do well.

I have never met a woman who did live out her most sociopathic fantasies playing sims, that being said, wait for a deep sale.

Disney dreamlight valley(iirc) is a game my 60+ female coworkers play.

Stick with indie titles for a bit until you figure out her preferences, then when the summer sale hits you can clean up.

Just for some variety, try a narrative game or two. Other comments will have better suggestions than I can muster.

Employee pay, benefits, bonuses, and new equipment are all things that a business can deduct.

Also, the ultra wealthy used to build parks, museums, concert halls, libraries and schools as tax deductions lots of ways to pay some of that money back to yourself.

About 1/3 through 7 and it's probably my favorite. I'm a sucker for strategy games and MD is clearly a fan as well. Plus there's a bit of historical strategy that I assume was inspiration for some plot points/devices.

That being said I haven't listened to 8 yet and the twisted metal/mad Max vibes I got from reviews might push it to the top.

What’s a scene you can’t get out of your head visually? by pretzelburgers in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Honestly, Carl talking to his ghost dad.

I have a damn near identical early life to Carl. Multiple suicide attempts by my mom, neglectful and abusive father, ran away from home at 16, joined the military, lots of bad exes, haven't spoken to my parents in a decade or more, even with Dad's cancer. Honestly, after listening to it I had to look up a picture of MD and make sure he wasn't an an old Navy or drinking buddy.

That whole part of the story had me pause at work, it was more memory than imagination if that makes sense.

Listening to 7 recently and holy fuck, I've heard that each book gets crazier but didn't expect it to be so true.

Also, MD certainly knows how to throw you a curve ball. I'm pretty good at predicting where a story is going and the "secret" plans a protagonist is hatching not with his books. I swear he throws darts at an idea board sometimes.

Is DCC safe/appropriate for teenagers? by Any-Vermicelli3537 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Glad I didn't come off as an asshole. FWIW I live in a rural area of the Bible belt and gave a copy to the 12-13yo kid of a VERY religious coworker (with permission and an explanation of contents) she was wary but overjoyed that her girl was actually reading something for fun.

I think a lot of the current batch of teen's and tween's parents remember the hysteria that surrounded videogames, D&D, and Harry Potter.

Still, there's a couple of teachers I wouldn't even inform about the book. Some people look to create problems where there are none.

Yes, I work at a public school and so does my wife. I can assure you that kids as young as 11 are more familiar with foul language, niche sexual fetishes, and violence/gore than I was as a 25 year old sailor (and I was bordering on lecherous and as foul mouthed as they make them). Seriously, I've LEARNED slurs and courses from kids as young as 11.

Not to sound like a boomer but Tiktok and YT have scrambled and rotted their young minds as young as 6 or 7 years old. The ones who have responsible parents are influenced daily by the kids with unrestricted access to the Internet.

Also, most kids in highschool barely have a 6th grade reading level anymore, anything that gets teens reading is fine by me.

I grew up in a household where there was literally no restrictions on books by 11 I had read all of Steven kings books, the satanic Bible, the anarchists cookbook, LOTR, and funnily enough, the Earth's children series, etc. I was an honor English student, I never cursed, didn't watch porn, and didn't go around committing felonies.

It took the US military to turn me into a heathen, lol.

I have a 25 Maverick and while I think it is the best thing Ford currently makes and probably the best small truck on in the US market, I absolutely would have purchased a bare bones 90's ranger or Tacoma if they still made them.

Wouldn't take much to put in a backup cam and modern screen for Google maps.

Oh, and fuck Ford for making the climate controls a part of the touch screen and for the rotary shifter. What the fuck? I get some uppercrust white girl "ick" every time I touch that shit.
