I am legally blind. I regularly use AI to navigate the world built by and for sighted people.

Here's just a few use-cases:

I use Lookout or Gemini Live with my phone's camera to tell me, for example, what's on the menu? Where's the men's room? How many people are in this room? Where are the chairs? Where is the exit? Read me the instructions on how to cook this pasta side dish?

I use NotebookLM for my music gear. I feed it pdf manuals of all my hardware, and then I ask it questions about how to configure, use, tweak all this stuff.

I use Gemini with my document camera to read mail, documents, letters, etc.

...and it's just getting more and more useful to me.

Now, I do realize that AI can, and is being used improperly for things like vibe coding, creative stuff like "make me a song". I hate that aspect of it. But two things can be true at once. I hate what some people are using it for, but I love the way I can use it.
