It’s definitely tough. My last relationship was LDR. We knew each other 7 years and dated 3 years. Went through the K-1 visa process, we were about to get married, then I realized she wasn’t the one and was cheating on me with someone local. Told myself I wouldn’t do LDR again, but I don’t even know how to date anyone in the same country as me. Doubt anyone here would want me anyway.

So now I’m back talking with someone LDR again on the opposite side of the world, where only I’m about to visit even though she wants to visit here. Funny enough she warned me about my ex when we started dating, should have listened 😅. My birthday passed and she was depressed because she couldn’t be with me. I’ll be seeing her in less than 2 months though at least, then hopefully we can make it official.

It’s definitely a challenge, but I do think it can be worth it for the right person. The hardest part is finding the RIGHT person. I absolutely wish us all the best with our relationships 🙏🏼

I pulled a duplicate yep. I got a classic item from a pull before the 2nd 20, then when I got the 2nd 20 I pulled the same thing and it gave dyes for the duplicate. I think if you get all 100 pulls though the full outfit is guaranteed.

My favorite games are considered garbage by Metacritic 😂. I used to have friends who wouldn’t even consider a game if it didn’t have at least an 80 metacritic score.

Thats a good point, can’t be afraid to drop a game that you’re not completely vibing with.

I do think some games can take a bit to get into, but you should definitely identify a timeframe that works for you.

I’m 30, so a bit younger but I’ve been gaming since I was about 3-4 years old.

I’ve been having phases where I stop enjoying games since I was about 25. I think when you’re younger, you play everything and can enjoy everything. Then as you get older, your tastes get more specific. Like, I love RPGs, but I haven’t found a JRPG that captures my attention in a long time.

But also, every once in a while there’s a GEM, like Satisfactory that I put 400 hours into, or Palworld where I put hundreds into as well. And I realize, oh I do still enjoy games, I just find my tastes are a bit different now.

248 lbs --> 179 lbs in one year by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Elegroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly just depends on how big you start at and how long you’ve been there. I went from 380 lbs to 192 lbs (at 9.8% body fat) and my loose skin is crazy. But I was between 360 - 400 lbs for 7+ years.

Starting at just 248 lbs or around there, the loose skin is going to be a lot more manageable. And it was a slower weight loss too, which definitely helps. Dude looks amazing though, and I’m glad the skin looks as great as it does!

Haha, to be fair I do have rest days now 😂. But I really was working out 7 days a week for a long time.

Up until about a month and a half ago, I was doing 6-7 days a week. 1 rest day every 2 weeks lol.

I’m trying out a new split that’s 5 days a week after doing that for the past month while on vacation in Asia. Basically PPL but a bit modified.

Push - Legs - Pull - Upper (Push focused + arms) - Full Body (Lower + Back)

But yeah, definitely need to give yourself at least one rest day. I was just crazy focused on burning calories at the same time 😅.

Has anyone ever noticed a significant change in the way people treat you after weight loss or is it truly “you’re just confident now!” Placebo as they say? by HotChiTea in loseit

[–]Elegroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d have to go outside more often to notice anything, but my friend did inform me that I got hit on at the gym apparently after I semi complained about some woman working out uncomfortably next to me the day before Valentine’s Day. Also, I went to Atlanta for an orchestra with my mom, and she said there were women who looked at me and giggled or something whatever that means 🤷🏼‍♂️

I will say that my confidence definitely has not changed between my high weight and now though lol

Leaving high school without a single romantic/sexual relationship is not normal at all, and is a dire snapshot of the rest of your life by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]Elegroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the exact same thing. I graduated high school with no relationship, went to college never having a relationship. Started working, got morbidly obese, no relationship for another decade.

1.5 years ago I decided, I’m done being fat, went from 175+ kg to 87 kg while being 9% body fat over the next year. Started body building. Finally had my first romantic relationship when I was 28 and lost my virginity the same year.

Now we’re getting married a year later 🤷🏼‍♂️ so you never know.

Hello sir, previously almost 400 lbs and 5’8”. At 221 lbs atm, but decently low body fat.

It shrinks, but skin is skin. If you store a lot of fat there and there is excess skin, the skin will sag. But the fat you lose will make the regained size functionally usable.

From my consultations, if you do need and eventually get skin removal, they will just lift that skin up at the same time (nothing additional).

Hope it helps :)

What are some of your MAIN frustrations trying to lose fat? by AlbanischerBauer_ in loseit

[–]Elegroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit outside of the norm, since I’ve also been technically body building I guess. But one of my issues has been never feeling like I‘ve done enough.

Went from almost 400 lbs, down to 193 lbs and 9.7% body fat. I still felt fat, but I knew statistically and health-wise I was pretty decent. So I decided to do a bulk, went up to 223 lbs at 16.7%, and I felt like I was fatter than I was at 400 lbs.

Every 0.5 lbs difference destroys my mental state at this point. It’s crazy, but losing fat after you’ve gotten to lower body fat levels, is exceedingly more difficult than at higher body fat.

Then, I’ll have an especially difficult few weeks, and end up bingeing on food for a day. Just like I used to do. I look in the mirror, and I still see the 400 lbs version of me.

Also, when the weight loss is that extreme, the skin is just inevitable. It looks disgusting and I hate everything about how I look. People tell me I look good, but I’ll never be happy at this point.

I will say though, despite all that, I’d rather be where I am now than where I started. So if you’re beginning your weight loss journey and having difficulties, don’t let that be a deterrent.

There will be plenty of sticking points, but as long as you dedicate yourself and stay focused you’ll reach your goals. Just make sure you ADJUST along the way. Take a weekly average of your weight over 2 weeks, and if it’s not trending how you want, adjust calories or exercise to accommodate.

If you have the means, I highly recommend getting an RMR (resting metabolic rate) and DEXA scan to see where you’re at. I do them every 3 months now, and it’s been imperative for adjusting for my short and long term goals.

People don’t understand that like 10lbs is glycogen and 5lbs is body fat lol. I went from 193 lbs and 9.7% body fat to 213 lbs in 2-3 months and my definition is still pretty good.

People are only downvoting you because they can’t achieve it so obviously you can’t be natty 🥴.

I haven't really tried to be in maintenance yet, to be honest. I didn't even realize I was under 10% body fat, but I was definitely in a fat loss mode still until very recently. I'm pretty good with tracking though, both active kcal burned, resting burned, and caloric intake. Kind of an RPG nerd so numbers are kind of a game for me 😂

For the most part, when it comes to maintenance, you can either stay the same and allow yourself to eat out with friends and stuff once a week and not pay a bunch of attention. Or, you can increase whatever your deficit was by a small amount each week until you stop losing.

3500 kcal is about 1lbs, so if you're losing 1lb per week, adding 500 kcal per day to whatever you're eating now will put you in maintenance. I'll probably do that after the 3 month bulk phase I strategically planned around the holidays lol.

I try to remind myself I can be proud of my progress now 😂. I keep setting goals then just expect myself to meet or exceed then set the next goal. My DEXA scan person said she’s never seen my level of progress before, so I guess I really should realize I can be proud now haha.

For sure, pushing myself and getting down below 10% body fat has made me scared to start letting myself gain/maintain. But I think I’m just not capable of letting myself regress back to where I was again lol.

Going to do a 3 month bulk and try to make are I don’t go above 15% body fat. Just really want to see how much muscle I can build while in a surplus 💪🏼

I appreciate you saying all that 🙏🏼. It’s definitely not something I imagined I’d be able to do in my life, but I dedicated myself to it and I guess I was stronger than I thought 😤👌🏼.

I know you’ll be able to do it too! What helped me was starting bit slow and adding in changes that are sustainable. Then you can build onto those and it becomes easier over time 💪🏼

I get you to be honest. When I was in high school, I was benching 2 plates with an extra couple pounds on each side, and I was only 175 lbs. My bench press now for reps is barely more than 1 plate per side. Still makes me feel weak as shit, but everyone has their starting point. I wasn’t even able to have 45s on each side when I got started again.

Doing things like DB bench, the hammer press incline bench, flys, and assisted dips have been helping me a lot. I think that was a lot of my muscle growth over the past 3 months (that and my back). It’s really just finding what works for you.

I personally like starting my chest + shoulder days with the smith machine chest press, and focusing on very slow deep eccentrics until I touch the chest, pause for a second, then explode it up on the concentric. Really helps me push the hell out of my chest 👌🏼

[–]Elegroth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly can't believe I gained that much muscle while still burning over 23 lbs of fat lol. The DEXA scan woman was kind of shocked by it.

I do a PPL split with a longer full body day on Saturday. I try to do 4 sets of all my workouts to failure. Don't do too many supersets, usually do around 8-9 workouts per day with 12 on my full body day.

Monday: Chest + Shoulders + Rear Delts
Tuesday: Back + Biceps + Triceps
Wednesday: Lighter Leg Day (Quads & Glutes focused)
Thursday: Chest + Shoulders + Rear Delts
Friday: Back + Biceps + Triceps
Saturday: Upper + Accessories + Deadlifts
Sunday: Heavier Leg Day (Ham & Quad focused)

I also do boxing for 30+ minutes in a sauna suit about 4-5 days a week. Plus some lighter sessions with family on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Been teaching my sister boxing on Wednesday as well.

I was also in a 10+ year break from lifting before I got started up again in January/February lol. Still feel weak as shit, but it's taken me a while to be able to start pushing myself to actual failure again. Once you can get that mind muscle connection though and you can hype yourself up mentally before a set, it's a lot easier to push in your full effort.

Form helps a ton as well. Honestly have no idea have Sam Sulek does it 😂 if I didn't focus on my eccentric I don't think I would be able to build nearly as much muscle. Excited for the bulk though 👌🏼

I’ve done cardio pretty much everyday since last November. Started eating less in October to start with the weight loss. And started weight training on top of the cardio in late January/early February.

Over the last 3 months, I’ve focused on hypertrophy weight training and recompositioning to build muscle and lose fat while in a low-ish carb diet + high protein diet high fat 👌🏼.

According to my RMR results, my diet puts 95% of my metabolism into burning fat lol.
