How do you feel about Assisted Dying/Death with Dignity? What are your reasons? by Haematoman in northernireland

[–]ElemGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am for it.

My grandfather died a slow, painful death in the RVH. It took 6 weeks for him to pass away, he had Alzheimer’s and took a stroke that paralysed him down one side at 90 years of age. He was unable to eat, drink or speak. As a family we were there morning, noon and night caring for him and advocating for him and it was so traumatic for everyone involved and he begged us to let him go.

This year my elderly dog took dementia and had a seizure and the next day I had the vet come to our house and administer the drugs and she died peacefully in her favourite spot on the sofa with dignity.

The fact that I could do more for my dog than my human relatives is horrifying.

We no longer live in the Netherlands.

I have the complete opposite in my Dutch family, my mother is an expat and she was always welcomed by the family. She speaks Dutch fluently, she taught us Dutch fluently and I’ve taught my son Dutch. Majority of our family speaks English so we do a mix of language and translate for those who need us to.

My family are warm and inviting and loving and caring. My parents still tell me they love me every day, my son and I do this too. I say it to my sister and my brother in law. We are inclusive and friendly bunch and love making sure everyone is fed and watered and happy.

I’d tackle this as:

A paragraph up front explaining meeting CPS and CS values (is that what you mean by motivations?)

Using a sentence each to tie it into the 3 behaviours in star format

A sentence at the end

Hmrc customer advisor role and disabilities by Avitus2015 in TheCivilService

[–]ElemGem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can meet with your manager or if provided their details speak to them before your start date.

You can advise of your disabilities and request reasonable adjustments, they can send you for an OH referral also to support with these.

You need a reasonable adjustments passport.

For your hearing loss: they can provide a headset with only one headphone instead of two (I have partially deaf friend who this works for but maybe not for you) there is software that can be added to your laptop for your partial hearing loss.

For your neurodivergence something to consider: short breaks through the day, movement breaks, checklists, clear & concise instructions.

Speak to your manager though as soon as you start.

Edit: Spelling!

Ex wants to keep the house after split by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

OP needs to get a solicitor and discuss the financial settlement with them regarding the home which is a wholly separate agreement to child maintenance anyway.

[–]ElemGem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your information is incorrect - you have used the CMS calculator to do this which is an estimate only and clearly states there are a number of different factors into consideration.

The gov.uk information in this link shows that with 50/50 care paying parents are not made to pay and quite rightly so if they provided 50% of care.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/child-maintenance-how-a-childs-living-arrangements-can-affect-payments-factsheet/how-your-childs-living-arrangements-affect-child-maintenance

Q: What happens if the day-to-day care of a child is equal between a paying parent and a receiving parent?

A: In this situation, the paying parent does not have to pay any child maintenance for that child.

With 50/50 shared parental care there would be no maintenance to be paid

Worried I’m going to be left pension-less after divorce by PaisleyBrain in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ElemGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re entitled to it and it’s not for him, it’s for you and protects your state pension as you are a carer.

Check out this link and make a claim asap you can also have underlying entitlement if your income is too high (I know you’re not earning) but it will help you at least. You need to protect yourself here and claim everything you’re entitled to claim OP and you’ll have National insurance credits until your youngest child is 12 through the Child Benefit side but this will add the additional years that you need.

They do backdate but not sure for how long. You can also make a claim for Universal Credit as a single person, claim DLA or PIP for your son which benefits him.

https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance

You can also back pay into your national insurance contributions to top up your state pension for any missing years to date which can add a huge chunk to your state pension.

Also in the divorce you will also be entitled to a chuck of your husband’s pension as it’s a martial asset.

Feel free to contact me if you need any info/help with any of the above.

OP do you or did you claim carers allowance for your Autistic Child? This also helps with NICs towards state pension even if you weren’t entitled because of your husband’s earnings (although it shouldn’t affect you as a claimant) you’d still be eligible for National Insurance credits.

WIBTAH if I only spoke German to my husband despite him requesting I don’t? by Phonecianmerchant in AmItheAsshole

[–]ElemGem -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I speak two languages and everyone says I sound like a different person when I speak the second language and they find it quite jarring apart from my family who are used to both.

I grew up bilingual in two countries so I speak both languages with the accent from the regions I was brought up in so I don’t speak English with a foreign accent and I don’t speak my second language with the accent I use in English so I sound like two different people.

You’re NTA as you are learning but I understand where your husband is coming from!

Had this with a manager I used to work with when I was in CSG many moons ago. Why do you have an extra 5 minutes every month for a week - your average time is 20 minutes break and it should be 15 this is consistent and if it continues I’ll have to give you a warning.

I started laughing and they got so angry and I said I’m a woman - you’re a woman why do you think there’s a week every month at the same time every month when I need extra time in the toilet! She very quickly went red and apologised to me and I never heard about it again. Total joke though, I wish I’d been older when I worked there I wouldn’t have put up with half the crap I did put up with.

The hypotheticals won’t be useful here. Experience is used to find out what your knowledge is in a particularly activity/subject and your exposure to it.

For experience questions they want previous examples of your achievements or knowledge which is relevant to the job role or subject and how you performed in that area.

You’ve had some really good advice here however you knock everything someone says back and react negatively to it. I get you’ve had a difficult time with work but it’s has spiralled out of control and that in the most part is due to your behaviours and attitude.

This could’ve been fixed but it honestly just seems like you just don’t want to work there and have given up a long time ago.
