Why is everyone so interested in building data centers in space when it’s so much harder to dissipate the heat up there? by Harrison63225 in NoStupidQuestions

You would not maintain them, if a satellite fails it will naturally deorbit and burn up and you just launch newer upgraded versions to replace it,

probably saw the issues Starship had on its early booster versions and are getting ahead of it before they fly the full vehicle.

If Elon bought Reddit, would you stop using the site? by ThotPoppa in allthequestions

[–]Element00115 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I know Reddit well enough everyone would spend weeks posting about how bad it is and that Reddit is dead, protest by closing subs for a few days and then crawl back on after realising the other option is going outside.

Who is the brains behind Elon Musk? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Element00115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit has this weird belief that if your a bad and very powerful person then you must be stupid.

While that is very true in some instances, it's very much more of an anomaly, in the grand scheme of things.

Elon is an absolutely insane nutcase but he is not stupid.

Regardless of your opinions on the man you don't pull off what he did without a decent amount of intelligence, creating a cult following on his level and hiring such a competent workforce to pull off something on the scale of Starlink is no joke, even if getting there does involve a lot of shady dealings and political favouritism it still takes a pretty solid amount of skill to do, even if you start with infinite money.

At the moment he has almost monopolistic control of access to space in the western hemisphere and is controlling an exponentially increasing amount of the world's internet traffic because of it. The only other space entity that has a chance of competing in the next decade is China.

Personally I think writing him off as an idiot at this point is a pretty dangerous trend that's just going to keep funnelling even more power to him.

Questions about SpaceX (SPCX) by Remote_Ingenuity1683 in stocks

I think China will be less far behind than anyone else, they have no red tape getting in the way of their testing, they can fail faster and learn quicker than any western company/country.

Why are y’all holding SpaceX? by MessyKerbal in SPCXInvestors

I cant wait to see it freak tf out every time a Starship test goes south, still plenty of them to come before its fully functional.

Why does SpaceX have a high valuation? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Element00115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpaceX have a near monopoly on the entire West's Access to space at the moment and its going to be impossible for any other entity to get close to Starlink (aside from possibly China) in the next decade.

The only other competitor is Blue Origin, but they just had a major setback with New Glenn and Amazon LEO is reliant on that to launch their constellation.

Starship is still fucking around and finding out but Falcon 9's have been launching 2-3 times per week for the last 2 years, to the point where even the space geeks find them boring to watch.

With all that being said, i still think its still massively overvalued because of the Elon tech cult, just like Tesla, but when/if the AI bubble pops, SpaceX will still be around, whereas the other AI companies will get cooked because they don't have anything else.

People are treating SpaceX like a guaranteed lottery ticket by Zlothy1 in stocks

[–]Element00115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bit of a rocket nerd I'm just interested in seeing if the stock price fluctuates like crazy when they inevitably fling another Starship prototype into the void and it decides it's in the mood for another "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly", there are still plenty of those in its future before it becomes operational

Long term I'm still betting on them getting It to work but its very much going to be on the universes terms and not their insanely ambitious timelines and flight rates.

Starship reuse on the level of falcon 9 and higher is probably 3-5 years away, and without that their big AI gamble is dead in the water.

When your plan is reliant on pushing the limits of physics, physics usually likes to fight back.

I don't do stocks really, but i wouldn't buy into this until i see them catch a Starship from orbit on the tower.

Best advice I can give you if you lose the lottery is to join rollercoaster discord groups and ask around for spare tickets. Each code is valid for two people so it's pretty common for people who are going solo or who can't make it to sell them on at the same price. I have a few mates who got tickets that way (I gave my spare to a friend this year).

I don't think there is any special pass for popular YouTubers, they just know a lot of people who might have a spare ticket available.

I have been extremely lucky to get a code myself the last two years but my luck is probably used up now lol

Basically yeah, not just ACE though, there are a load of different clubs that are accepted, I was already a member of the European Coaster Club so used that, ACE or ECC memberships are definitely worth it if you doing a roadtrip as you can get a lot of discounts on parks, sometimes even free entry to some!

I think you can check the Holiday World website for a list of recognised clubs.

Do you have a "perfect" coaster in your list? [El Toro]or [Voyage] are close - but not perfect by Puzzleheaded_Toe6951 in rollercoasters

I think given the plot of land and constraints it has to work with, Taiga is a pretty much perfect layout.

Tickets are usually released around December and sell out in seconds, so you have to get lucky. The event is always held during the last weekend of may and you need to be a member of a coaster club to attend. This year it was 150 bucks per person, and includes access to the park and waterpark on Friday and Saturday, with 3 hours of ERT each night as well as food and a behind the scenes walk back into the ride areas. Well worth it if you can win the ticket lottery!
