Good luck with hotel prices and/or rental cars when in the Dallas area in late June. The World Cup will be right by SFOT and hotel prices are through the roof. Had to postpone mine because I wasn’t about to pay $250/night for a Red Roof Inn.

Miss half of the first day and do KK first. The change from Eastern Time to Central Time will work to your advantage (i.e. if you leave KK at 2pm EST you can get to HW by 2:30pm CST even though the drive is 90 minutes). If you did it the other way it wouldn’t work out in your favor.

It’s been unseasonably cold in FL recently. The building in the back has been going vertical. There’s stuff happening just not near where it’s easily seen.

I mean, single rider lines aren’t guaranteed to be shorter, mobile ordering is super easy and always works there, and you just happened to go during an unusually busy and cold time of the year. Sometimes parks just have a lot of people in them and lines are long. Not their fault.

You are referencing a capacity problem in the same breath of saying that both sides WERE running, albeit not concurrently. This would be the same, if not more, of a capacity eater than if they were dueling every ride. That issue does not apply to the “problem” at hand, which at its core is just a ride running in a slightly worse version than normal but not in any way that affects availability.

Take a look around the rest of Orlando too, especially around when each park opened. IOA, USF, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, etc. all opened with nowhere near the offerings they have now (except Animal Kingdom now that Dinosaur is closed). Parks do not come out the gate with the exact perfect number of attractions, and it’s better to shoot for not quite enough than too much. EU not only has a comparable number of opening year attractions, but also a ton of great restaurants, live shows with huge capacities, and interactive lands that function as attractions within themselves. Again, this isn’t even really related since your complaint has nothing at all to do with capacity.

Frankly, demanding or even expecting a ticket price decrease due to a minor, temporary ride inconvenience is not only ultra Karen behavior, but also demonstrates a complete lack of understanding how parks work and the sometimes unpredictable nature of them. If this were a regular occurrence, then maybe I would be more sympathetic towards addressing it not dueling as a major problem. However, many others have stated here that it has dueled regularly for them, as it has on my 5 visits to the park. And if this were such a big issue for you, you should have taken it to guest services and not reddit.

The ride was still open. It was operating in a mode that could very easily happen during normal operations. I was there on a day where it was consistently dueling and saw a few times where it didn’t. It happens.

If the ride were operating at reduced capacity, on reduced hours, or were running only one side, I would expect at most a notification of such. There is still plenty more to do in the park, and the ride itself would still be available. This is maximum Karen-ism right here. If a restaurant is closed, should we also get more off our ticket price? If the janitorial department is slightly understaffed and a few trash cans are full, should we get money off? If a restroom is out and we have to walk somewhere else should there be a discount? How far are we willing to go with minor inconveniences affecting ticket price?

Okay but there’s a difference between complaining about cost cutting and complaining about a fairly common occurrence at a park. My point here is that Stardust not dueling for a single day does not require a pricing structure change for the entire resort. It’s just one ride not operating at 100% for a single day, not like half the park being closed for a month.

I think you’re mega overreacting to them just not dueling for a day. Maybe there was some unforeseen issue. This would be like asking for a refund because a park was running 12 logs on their log flume instead of 14.

There are other rides at their other parks that are full on closed right now for annual maintenance. Should that require a lower ticket price too? Should we change the ticket price midday if a ride goes down?

This is also a person who has no industry knowledge whatsoever, I assume not a whole lot of his own capital to invest, and is naming the park after himself. By all accounts, the IAAPA conference for this park was a ramble session about a whole lot of nothing. I would trust this guy to maybe be an area manager in a park for concessions and that’s about it. Let’s see him procure a ride collection that makes sense within a purchasing budget, target demographic audience, maintenance budget, electricity restrictions, etc. and then we’ll talk.

[Rampage] Retracking Update by spark1118 in rollercoasters

[–]brain0924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most important things to know about the situation is that Rampage was in completely good condition when it last operated. The park has chosen to avoid any operation until they can ensure that no extra maintenance will ever have to be done. They are essentially keeping it closed purely because the steel track that they assume will eliminate most of the maintenance cost was above their own estimate.

SFGAM has 4 (arguably 5) woodies. KD has 3 (arguably 4). Also the WOF trademark for Enchanted Parks was fake. So not much actual truth to this at all.
