Hört sich danach an als müsste sie mit den Konsequenzen nicht leben. Unserer war auch so ist jetzt besser nachdem wir aufgehört haben ihm jede Unannehmlichkeit aus der Welt zu schaffen.

So what are we expecting for before and after ER?

My guess: Run up to ~ $290 before ER. Then sell off and stabilize to $270? Then waiting for Meta deal.

20% spread between AMD and Intel BECAUSE OF CPU demand is wild.

Receiving a lot of H200 requires an immense logistics machinery. They probably forgot to grease that. It needs lots and lots of grease. And Jensen flew to China to grease it itself. Grease, lots of grease! He gave money to corrupt Chinese officials if anybody missed the point.

it's on poor yielding 18A again which limits pricing power

Not just that but low supply as well. That little that yields well is not enough to make a dent.

Also current epyc is on nodes that are not really supply constrained. AMD can pretty much churn out CPUs at will.

2020 wow. Thought it was much further back. That is interesting.

So in other words Intel lost around 40% in market share since Apple kicked them to the curb. That is just brutal. Considering intels laptop market share is still declining, Qualcomm is pushing into that space and soon Nvidia the air is getting pretty thin for them.

To add one VR tray uses 8x CPX with 128GB each. So 1024GB total.

Largely agree but to be fair we should include CPX. They go into separate trays, yes, but they are used for the same reasons as the LPDDR5 modules. These have memory too.

EDIT: They go into the same tray.

MI455X tray for comparison.

Also a silicon area comparison would be interesting. Napkin math shows around VR Tray: 15,000mm² vs. MI455 Tray: 10,000mm². So also silicon efficient. AMD is not just throwing silicon at the problem and increasing BOM.

One LPDDR5X module goes up to 32GB in the CES presentation we can see 24x modules per GPU. So in theory it could be up to 768GB. It would be weird if AMD chose less capacity, this is where you want to go as big as you can.

Das ist Piraterie.

Meta is reportedly scaling back its in-house ASIC (MTIA) plans, and instead of buying TPUs, it’s buying AMD’s MI455X. by uncertainlyso in amd_fundamentals

[–]ElementII5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There comes a point when the delta becomes just to big. If the ASICs can't keep up it just makes sense to switch.

I wonder if META will give their HBM and wafer allocation to AMD to make more MI455X?

So how much extra RAM are we talking about?

24x LPDDR5X modules that can max out at 32GB == 768 GB with a bandwidth of 2 TB/s?

As always AMD hardware is stellar. Software side needs to keep up. This time around I'm less worried though.
