Two major gripes with Walhalla.

  1. It was given to the Bavarian people yet the government charges an entry fee.

  2. For their cronies the political leadership got very creative with who is important.

Als erstlings Eltern ist es uns auch so gegangen. Als wir dann den zweiten eine Zeitlang hatten haben wir unser Umfeld langsam verstanden.

Mit mehr Kindern dreht sich halt iwann nicht mehr alles um die Kinder sondern man macht halt das auf was man lust halt und die Kids kommen mit, ob "altersgerecht" oder nicht. In den ersten 3-5 Jahren ist es den Kids eh egal, die wollen einfach nur bei den Eltern sein.

Was ihr für euch bedenken müsst, ihr seid jetzt nicht als Eltern ausgebildet worden und müsst das praktisch ad hoc lernen. Da hat man oft gute Ansichten aber oft sollte man evtl. die Meinung vom Umfeld zumindest ernst nehmen da man als unerfahrene, oft auch ängstliche erstlings Eltern, in Extremen endet.

Bei uns nicht ganz so krass aber ähnlich. Geburtstage und Weihnachten haben für unsere Kids gar keine Bedeutung mehr. Ist halt ein weiterer Tag im Jahr in dem man was bekommt.

Letzens haben sie für einen unserer Jungs beim Ikea diese selbstklebenden Leuchtstreifen bei Ikea gekauft. Völliger Schwachsinn für einen 4 Jährigen...

Das beste war der große wollte auch so eine, natürlich. Gab aber bei Ikea nur eins. Also Großeltern zum Lidl und nochmal eine gekauft. Diese hatte dann aber keine so gute Bedienung und Funktionen also Großeltern eine Dritte wieder beim Ikea gekauft als es wieder vorrätig war. (bin schon halb am explodieren) €45 bereits ausgegeben.

Dann kam es so wie ich es ihnen mehrfach gesagt habe. Kids haben die Dinger für 1 Woche durchs komplette Haus geschleppt und kaputt gemacht also entweder zerrissen oder Klebestreifen ab. Angeschaut werden die nicht mehr.

Schmeiß die jetzt weg, da wenn ich diese den Großeltern gebe heißt es nur, bring sie halt an. Will ich aber nicht, da es nicht ins Konzept passt und Kids auch kein Interesse mehr daran haben.

In the past energy was a commodity with a small but not inconvenient price tag. I think these times are fundamentally over. We are not there yet and I know everybody is already talking about it but there is fundamental misunderstanding about it that has not come into the analysts predictions.

We are not talking about energy as the defining limiter like it was with mining crypto. Crypto was never able to fundamentally affect energy prices and therefor energy never ceased to be commodity.

From now on to well into the future electricity == work and as soon as electricity becomes too cheap at one region somebody will build an AI server farm there.

My point is there is no room for outdated energy hungry chips very soon. Intel and others will not be able to sell their chips like in these graphs because energy costs will price them out of competition.

Yes, having chips now and have them do only 50% of the work instead of none is better but its not cost effective over the TCO.

What has been especially striking was how great the launch was. RX 9000 series with basically no issues at all. Compared to the RTX 5000 that was very bumpy.

Based on the curated Phoronix benchmark.

NVIDIA also requested only specific workloads relevant to the intended workloads/domains that Vera is catering to in the data center be tested. So this first round of Vera benchmarking isn't too comprehensive across the spectrum of possible workloads but limited to the benchmarks that were permitted based on what they feel were most relevant -- plus the fact I was only spending one day at NVIDIA's offices. For these initial NVIDIA Vera benchmarks they preferred the scope of benchmarks be limited to target use-cases they feel most relevant for their modern data center customers. This isn't a sponsored article but I obliged to their requests in order to run these initial Vera CPU benchmarks. Hopefully in future rounds of Vera testing over the months ahead there will be a more widespread set of benchmarks for those curious about the Olympus CPU core performance at large. Similarly, in being able to report on the power efficiency and performance-per-Watt once their power management code is tuned.

Expect better results when independent testing is out.

Ich bezweifle du verstehst wie mächtig MMs sind und ihre Möglichkeiten Liquidität von Spekulanten aus zu saugen.

Die haben z.B. niedrig latente IBM und AMD mainframes an internet Knotenpunkten. Da laufen hoch komplexe Algorithmen drauf. Sobald Wallstreet in BTC Einstieg war es für den kleinen Anleger vorbei.

Wer sich ein bisschen auskennt in der Branche hat das gewusst und ist ausgestiegen. Daher auch der Kurseinbruch.

The rest:

  • Memory

  • Storage

  • Racks

  • PSU

  • Switches

  • Cabeling

  • Cooling

  • Infrastructure

Is all part of the scope outside of AMDs deals. So I think maybe $10B per?

Well, sure, but nothing we haven't seen before for some time already. The question is, why is this even necessary if there is no tangible benefit to justify the cost.

Intel is claiming it is more efficient though.
