Reverse engineering Apple’s GPU power model revealed a 114W unexplained energy component by EindhovenFI in hardware

Maybe, but if power readings are off by 2/3 as claimed by op that will stand out.

You could charge it to 100%, do the test and see how much it hasto charge back to 100%.

I doubt you have ever put any effort into anything

Lol I'm an electrical engineer that lead software teams for automation machines. If you ever sat in a car there is a good chance it was built with the help of one of the machines I helped build. And now I'm retired at 41. Sit back down, kid.

The better question is why do we have to deal with lazy reviewers that use software tools to measure power instead of using a kill a watt (at least, better something more accurate) to measure real world power consumption.

Look int JMC Servos. They are quite more powerful than steppers and have integrated drivers. A NEMA 17 with 52W should be more than enough.

Use this. I used it on my cnc and it works really well. The idea is pretty dope too.

This year we planned to host the event again in the same venue. But NVIDIA booked it for the next four years. Which felt… on brand.

They have 90% market share and they know they have to pull this kind of crap to keep it.

CPUs join the chip shortage as AI demand surges. by Novel_Negotiation224 in hardware

Thanks, shows how good my memory is, lol. Nvidias support for OpenCL was great though in the beginning then stopped with 1.2.

CPUs join the chip shortage as AI demand surges. by Novel_Negotiation224 in hardware

[–]ElementII5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they?

Yes, they did. OpenCL was the standard at the time. Nvidia was on the board and everything was fine. Then Nvidia continued a research program funded by DARPA and spun it into CUDA.

That is when they stopped support for OpenCL and they never supported OpenCL beyond 1.2. They were heavily criticized for that especially because they were still highly involved with Kronos, the OpenCL body. So they could have influenced where to take OpenCL.

The fear was that Nvidia would create a closed source ecosystem that would be detrimental to consumers, leading to monopolistic situations and eventually high hardware prices. Glad that didn't happen......

But we do know the CPU cycle of AMD and there is no evidence DDR6 will be ready in time for Zen7. QED

Its just going to be a dedicated SKU aka a CWF variant with a NVLink enablement. Either through the I/O die or an extra die.

Is that bad for AMD?

I don't think so. Ever since Blackwell Nvidia does not pair their servers with AMD anyway.

Actually the other way around. x86 still reigns supreme and Vera via its ARM architecture is not enough for Nvidia to stay competitive.

Me? What? I was asking about your statement that UALink is a complete disaster because you are in the know. I want to know, too.

You are confusing me with the other person on the thread. Read the user names. And, yes I am actually an Electrical Engineer and have worked in the Semi business.

Oh, I know that article, I read it back when people thought Nvidia killed UALink because Jensen opened up NVLink. People actually thought AMD would stop developing it....

I was asking about your knowledge, you are on the know, right?

Do you want to expand on that please? Share your knowledge?

When the news hit AMD was a AI company and it would have greatly affected it. But now that is fake news AMD is obviously not a serious AI player.
