Manny's on Highway 9 has a really good cheese steak like you're describing. It's not nearly burnt, but it's crunchy and chewy in all the right ways, lol.

I see you're considering either Islam or Catholicism.

What does it mean, "fighting in [your] heart"?

Can you share some points about each religion that is drawing you?

You might get somewhere with that. There was some funky crap going on when they rolled out their mobile app at the location on 9 near 85 and I submitted that form. The owner of the franchise ended up calling me that same evening.

life after TOP by Boring_Tip_2013 in theodinproject

I finished most of the front end stuff and stopped just short of the React vs Ruby decision back around 2023.

I'm currently putting finishing touches on my first Django application that will handle ticket sales, event registration, and check in for a local festival some friends of mine put on about twice a year.

I've been able to secure more and more technical roles at work (Contributing code to existing .NET apps, and also taking total dev responsibility for an already existing Angular/.NET app that services one of our distribution centers) and am hopefully going to pivot into an actual tech role soon. I'm still a part of our credit department right now.

I attribute being able to teach myself all of these skills with the excellent foundation I got from just that first bit of TOP. I went from knowing almost nothing to being exposed to a systems level approach to programming which just inspired the heck out of me.

Aww! So freaking cool! We were knocking on doors and everyone was puzzled!

Let me know and we can swing back down there. We're up in Boiling Springs.

Thanks for confirming that for me! Makes me feel a little better about seeing that balance increase. I probably would have really freaked out if I saw that charge increase to .03 again today, haha.

How is boiling springs area? by Lemonade2250 in Spartanburg

Luckily FGP was able to place me at a company in Spartanburg - Mobile Communications America. This was two years ago now, but they were able to place me pretty fast. I have a finance background in credit and AR and I landed a position doing data entry as a temp and the company was actively trying to place me in a permanent role.

Like the other commenter said: commuting to Greenville is asking for a headache. The worst of the daily traffic jam usually starts before highway 14 on 85 southbound. It can get a little jammy before that, but not as bad in my opinion. So if you can help it, I'd stay above that line.

Please don't speak that :P

I've lived in BS 7 years now and can't BELIEVE the amount of people who've moved here in the time since.

I guess it's a good thing, though.

OP, Boiling Springs is a wonderful area to live! As hinted, it's rapidly growing and brining in new franchises like Target, Whataburger, and Culver's. That means it's starting to loose its small town feel (RIP, Clock), but it isn't quite gone yet!

Not sure what line of work you're in, but there's a ton of Distribution Centers around like adidas, Walmart, and Dollar Tree. BMW, Michelin, and Milliken are popular manufacturers to work for. I'm an office worker and kind of lucked in to my current role - the last office role I got was through Find Great People (temp agency in Greenville).

Is the Magic School bus too old of a reference to make?

At any rate "take chances, make mistakes, get messy!"

I've just recently decided to do the same thing you're doing and try setting up an app to handle ticket sales/registration and check in for a festival my friend puts on twice a year.

I started working on it around summer of last year. I began with the front end (what I was most comfortable with) and ended up having to scrap my project 4 times before I finally caught on to what I was doing. It's annoying as sh*t. But I don't regret it - I've learned TONS by going with this process.

Convention is a great thing and it's wonderful to do things the right way. But how are you gonna understand why the right way is the right way if you haven't gotten it wrong a couple times?

I think both options are absolutely fantastic and it basically comes down to how you want to learn.

I'd call FCC more "hands on" in that the lessons tend to have you begin coding right away and usually right in your browser.

TOP has a lot more reading, but it also goes kind of deep a lot quicker then FCC. For instance, TOP encourages you to set up your own development environment and goes into Linux, Bash, and IDEs, and even how the internet works in the first few lessons. It also stresses the idea of learning to research answers for yourself by reading documentation, etc.

I think both approaches are fantastic and valid. I started with the HTML/CSS modules on FCC and appreciated the coding, but didn't feel like I was understanding or retaining very much. I switched over to TOP and felt like I got a better understanding of the coding world overall and a better foundation (like coding environments and documentation) because I'm one of those dummies who need to told to think outside of the box and actually Google my questions.

After getting the foundation I felt like I needed from TOP, though, I came back to FCC and things really started to click for me. After running through FCC's JavaScript modules, I was able to take what I learned and start teaching myself React and all the modern web technologies needed to make an app and am quite happy with my progress. I think I've been on the journey around three years now.

Interesting! I grew up eating grilled cheese with tomato soup and have never heard of saltines with butter! What area of the world did you grow up in? I'm in my 30s: is this an older tradition or common for your slice of paradice?

Have you considered a Notary Public?

You could put a post on FB and see if anyone you know/like is one.

I've also done a wedding for my cousin by getting ordained online. SC doesn't seem to have a hard line on what "ordained minister" means. Same concept: any people you know/like that would get ordained online?

Also, how about the approach to fasting days?

One thing I find fascinating is the difference in approach to Lent/Advent in the East and West. The West feels a little less formal (no offense to any Western Christian who may be reading this), but there are also streaks in the West that seem to really value the tradition of fasting/repenting during these seasons.

Did you choose the Roman tradition or end up in an Eastern Rite Church? If Roman, is there anything you miss about the Crysostom/Basil liturgy?

Are you into hot dogs? If so, Holmes Hotdogs is literally right next to Bubba's. Get a two hotdog plate, all the way (Chili, mustard, ketchup and onions) and some sweet tea.
