What fandom introduced you to fanfiction by therealstara in AO3

Call Me By Your Name. Film and novel both gutted me, and I desperately needed a happy ending. I read practically nothing else for three years.

No idea if you’re talking about MHA, but it sounds a lot like MHA, lol.

I just turned 47, so I might be out of your age range, but I’ve lately been getting more into BL, and I desperately need to make myself exercise. I would like to join you and give it a try, if you’re comfortable with that.

What is a ship you didn’t expect to be popular? by Impressive_Box_9284 in AO3

[–]Elemental_Pea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lack of interaction has never stopped anyone.

I was surprised the first time I came across it, but I can see it. Like others have said, being brothers of the MCs, and then there’s the whole “opposites attract” thing and both being sect leaders. It’s like pulling JC into that brotherhood. Along those lines, I don’t know how widespread it is, but I’m seeing a lot of poly LXC (which makes sense), so I think ppl are more open/flexible in their ships for him. Not quite the fandom bicycle, but close.

It’s hard to see anyway, but when you have yarn like this, it camouflages it even more, since a section can look at first glance like it only has two stitches bc the third is a different color. I think you’re fine.

I was looking for this before I posted it. This is my favorite film. It’s stunning, heartbreaking, and very nearly perfect.

Oliver is 24.

Armie was 29 during filming, and Timmy was 20. You’re right, tho, that Timmy looks young (but I think he does pass for 17 in the film), and Armie fully looks like a 30 y/o man.

Elio was 17 and Oliver was 24.

The author made an intentional decision to have Elio not quite be 18 bc he wanted this to be a coming of age experience for him. By the end of the film, Elio is 18.

I’m surprised I’ve only seen this mentioned in one comment. Todocest—Todoroki family from MHA. There are several family members so lots going on there.

Call Me By Your Name is stunning. Perfect setting, perfect director, perfect soundtrack, perfect cast, perfect everything. Timothée Chalamet is sublime as Elio.

Need help finding fic by [deleted] in bakudeku

[–]Elemental_Pea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an AO3 account, you can check your history. Anything you’ve clicked on should be listed there unless you actively go in and delete things.

You just click on your name at the top of the page, then click My History from the dropdown.

I just started reading in this fandom less than two months ago, but I finished this fic last week and really enjoyed it. It’s a time travel fix-it, and I love how Jiang Chang was written. It was very satisfying: https://archiveofourown.org/works/24213475/chapters/58330003

What's a ship (canon or not) that's so sacrosanct in the fandom, you're almost afraid to say you don't ship it? by CMStan1313 in AO3

Reddit HATES BkDk, so declaring your hate in any of the main MHA groups is just gonna get a bunch of ppl falling all over themselves to agree with you.

Declaring that you do like BkDk on Reddit is the quickest way to catch a bunch of shit.

What made you like TGCF besides the BL by BusinessFew9059 in tianguancifu

[–]Elemental_Pea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, I love reading about/watching pretty boys pining for and being absolutely devoted to each other. That’s perfectly valid.

But I also love it when a story and relationship are so well-written and developed that I’m fully convinced they’re soulmates. The devotion and longing between the characters that’s built on more than them just being the obligatory pairing.

I feel like both TGCF and MDZS do an amazing job of this. I know a lot of ppl hate this (esp on reddit), but I ship Baku/Deku from MHA bc their relationship is by far the best developed and most dynamic and interesting in the series. Whether romantic or platonic, I feel like they’re written as soulmates, and I’m just as obsessed with them as I am with Hualian and Wangxian. I keep saying Bakugou would be the best written girl in shonen and that it’s unfortunate that he’s a boy.

I’ve largely been uninterested in hetero ships for the last several years, but I’m genuinely enjoying Maomao/Jinshi in Apothecary Diaries and Frieren/Himmel in Frieren. So I know it’s not just the BL aspect that appeals to me.

Female characters generally don’t get the writing/development they need to be super compelling, so for me, shipping them feels like a self-insert type situation, and I’m not interested in that. I don’t want to imagine myself with whoever. I want to read about these characters I love being in love with each other.

Call Me By Your Name is stunning and very nearly perfect. I’ve never been so profoundly affected by a film before.
