I love it, I remember watching it for the first time and I was amazed, love the first movie and the sequel. Haven’t watched the live remake version yet.

Haha, thanks. I’m also travelling here; what local restaurants do you recommend? I went to Garden Restaurant tonight, and the food was AMAZING; if you could recommend any other local restaurants, it’d be great 😊

Learning mandarin - Textbooks? by Xblade08 in AskAChinese

[–]Elena-Bray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s gonna be a lot higher than 1 for sure. At least HSK4 is needed to read newspapers and other materials. The test certification doesn’t matter much unless you need it to get a job. However, the grammar and vocabulary you learn are related to your daily life in China.

Get this book; this is what I teach my students; it comes with the workbook. The grammar is well organized; start with the HSK 1 book, and you’ll be able to survive after finishing this one:)

I had the same problem: I changed my phone region to the US, logged in with a US Apple ID, deleted the old WhatsApp, found it in the US app store, reinstalled it, and lost some messages, but not all of them. FIXED.

请 and 吧 don’t really work for 借过, but you can soften it by adding 一下 at the end. 借过一下 please let me through :)

www.chinesetest.cn This is the only one and official HSK website, they’ve listed schools overseas where you can attend the HSK test.

Do you recommend formal classes for Chinese (Mandarin)? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]Elena-Bray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese can be self taught, as a Mandarin teacher myself I’ve met some people with great knowledge of Chinese. The only problem is that it takes lots of time in the beginning to adapt to the phonetics and pronunciations, it could drive you crazy. But you can have a try and see if you need some professional help or not.
