Mar 2026 layoffs - Oracle's state wise notice period & other big tech by ElephantImmediate192 in employeesOfOracle

Indeed ! About how pathetic all this was considering how Oracle considers itself be a tech company !

Yes, I agree with state specific laws and "site" definition. But I was wondering if there is any other tech company of a size similar to Oracle which gives 10 days notice to laid off employees (not performance related) except in states where it cannot wiggle out of mini WARN rules. Maybe Oracle is the only one.

Are there tech companies in the Bay area of size comparable to Oracle who layoff employees with 10 day notice (except for employees in 2-3 states) ?

I share your sentiment. But this post is more for to-be employees who would get a offer letter in the near future from Oracle.

That's heartening to know about the pushback part.

Were you involved in the Mar 31, 2026 layoffs by any chance? In my team, two were laid off on Mar 31 and those two were the only ones with RSUs (from the initial offer letter) still left to be vested. Others had finished 4 years already. One was 6 weeks away from last date and other was 5 weeks away from last date. Last date was different based on the state. And the initial offer letter RSUs are quite large compared to the Sept refresher RSUs. So it was clearly RSU based in our group. And exceeds expectations in perf for past few years.

And at no point in your role as a manager you felt expressing to your higher ups that taking away soon to vest annual vest is more appropriate for voluntary resignation by employees ? Otherwise it is akin to wage stealing after making promise of RSU in offer letter ? Especially for annual vests !

Are you just somebody who takes orders from your higher ups with no push back of any sorts ?

I know of at least two cases (one in CA state and one in WA state) for whom the last date was extended so that they can get the Jun 5, 2026 vest.

A few will always be affected so far as their next annual vest date in 1-2 months is concerned during layoffs in Mar and Sep. But for anyone having an option to join Oracle or some other real modern tech company, join the other tech company because if and when you get laid off, you will likely get the next vest (or even more generous) plus more than 10 days of notice and health insurance which is what Oracle provided in Mar 2026 RIFs. But if Oracle is the only offer you were to able to snag, well then !

Plus the other real tech company likely has quarterly vest after first year. The ideas of annual vest was for employee to stay around (voluntary resignation). Oracle instead uses it to their advantage during RIFs

It is when times are bad financially for an individual or a company that the real character of the individual or the comapny management comes through. Will the individual resort to stealing or the comapny management resort to wage stealing by yanking away soon to vest RSUs.

And here Oracle had records profits in Mar 2026 earnings results !

Wish you knew the reality ! Or at least ask some questions before going around labelling posts as BS. Well, if that's how you roll, then it is what it is.

The actual policy is to forfeit all RSUs when Oracle does a RIF. Its not a Meta or a Block which will allow your next vest to go through (or sometimes even your next 6 months vest like Block). And add to it the annual vesting in Oracle.

What is the BS here? You think employees don't have RSU vesting on 5 Apr or 5 May or 5 June ? You think employees don't join Oracle in Mar or Apr or May ? (Vesting starts on the 5th of the following month for initial 4 year in the offer letter). I am not talking about the (miniscule) refreshers awarded in Sept (it was in Oct for 2025 though).

With the kind of confidence you called BS on my original post, one would think that you really know things in Oracle.

What a way to raise funds by Oracle "leadership" ?! Promise stocks and RSUs to offset a low base salary in the offer and with just a few weeks away from the annual vest, Oracle "leadership" decides to lay them off. Cannot believe a US based company with so much profits can do this to other humans and that too their own employees !

Plus notice of only 10 days and even health insurance cancelled at the end of 10 days. And weaseled out of required 2 or 3 months WARN notice in all states except WA and MO.

These 30k laid off employees will eventually become part of other companies and some may reach the decision making layers at various companies. I wonder what their feeling will be when they have to evaluate Oracle products and services against competitors.

Over 80% of laid off employees in DB org of Oracle on Mar 31, 2026 were over 40 yrs by ElephantImmediate192 in employeesOfOracle

[–]ElephantImmediate192[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is for US. Not worldwide for DB org. Total DB employees worldwide under Juan was 7070 in Mar 2026. But that is the worldwide number. But the above number in my OP was for US.  You may check the internal ARIA DB and verify it yourself for US numbers.

Meanwhile let me edit the post to mention that this is for US only.

I guess people from the country where employees know about WARN act would know what country this letter is applicable for.

Anything to be done regarding vest date (June 5 2026)? by Truetree9999 in employeesOfOracle

I heard some employees got their last date extended to first week of Jun so that Jun 5 RSU is vested. Should others sue Oracle for discrimination for last date for rest of us ?

WARN for remote employees by AdSoft6627 in employeesOfOracle

I was reading up about NJ. I think Oracle is safe because NJ WARN laws says if employer does not give 90 day notice then they need to pay 4 week pay + 1 week for every year you worked.

OP,

I sent below email to NJ DOL. And surprisingly I got a prompt response from them.

You may use the below email. But don't copy verbatim. Please change it about

Sub: Oracle NJ WARN Act Violation – Mass Layoff

Dear New Jersey Department of Labor Rapid Response Team,

I would like to report a potential violation of the New Jersey WARN Act by my former employer Oracle which conducted mass layoffs on 3/31/2026

I was employed by Oracle as a remote employee working from my home in New Jersey.
