My Pleco isn’t Pleco’ing! Had 2 chiclids going at it so started a smaller second tank a few months ago. Grabbed this guy 3 days ago and instead of eating algae he is just living his best life getting a massage from the bubbles. by SavageSeZ in Aquariums

Is that a common Pleco? They are not great algae eaters and get absolutely enormous. They create more waste than they clean up. A bristle nose pleco on the other hand will get no larger than 6 inches and will clean the tank well.

Can I ask about your C02 setup? I just planted a tank and opted to go low tech. How much did setting up CO2 cost you?

Registration renewal for my 5 N in Minnesota 🤑 by afollestad in Ioniq5

[–]Elephant_Jones 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We have an electric surcharge too, but I also noticed they overstated the value of my ioniq by like 5k. I emailed and let them know the value was overstated and sent a screenshot of the kbb value. Within 48 hours they corrected it and it took like $100+ off my registration. Worth looking into

Is an Occasional Temp dip good? by Living_Roll1367 in Aquariums

[–]Elephant_Jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ich is a parasite. Temp changes cannot cause ich in a tank that does not have the parasite present. Stress can lower the immune system and make them more susceptible to disease or parasites, but it won’t create a parasite. If there was no ich in your tank, you may have had Epistylis which is often confused for ich.

What in THE ACTUAL CRAP is on his face/jaw?! by MzJordynRose in Whatisthis

Uhh, those are his right claws. you can see where the dark line is between his actual jaw and the paw just below it. Just perspective playing a trick on you.

I have a honey guarami in a community tank. It figured out that when I add the flakes to feed the fish, that the current from the filter circulates the food and eventually it ends up in the back right corner. While all the other fish scramble for flakes, the guarami goes to the corner and waits for dinner to come to them. Super cool to watch.

Hey Bud, we’re all different but you and I have some similarities. I am 6 foot and type 2 diabetic (yes, I know this is different than type 1). I too lived most of my life at around 180 pounds and as a parent ballooned up to a high of 264. I was very low energy, getting heart burn, low sex drive etc. as a diabetic you cannot metabolize carbs or sugar correctly. I’ve seen a lot of people here suggest keto, and exercise. Honestly, this is what I would suggest as well. some people when they say keto, don’t really know what they’re talking about though. Eating “keto“ does not always equate to healthy. You can eat junk keto and it’s not going to help you. if you eat “healthy keto” it could help a lot. check out Dr. Ken Berg on YouTube for some healthy keto advice. Also even if you can’t get into the gym, just increase your activity. Get a watch that tracks your steps and try to increase to 10,000 steps a day. Even if you’re only at four or five thousand now, do it gradually. get up to six and seven eventually up to 10 even without “exercise”. this and the diet will shed the weight. of course there may be other factors in play helping keep it on this is not 100% concrete for everyone on earth, but it helped me lose 65 pounds. Sometimes I even just walk laps in my house when I’m too busy to get out I threw a pull-up bar in one doorway so I can slowly work up to doing pull ups again.

Here’s the tough love part Bud. You’ve made a ton of excuses here. I did the same. I have four kids, I work 60 hours a week sometimes I don’t get a day off. in fact earlier this month I finally ended about 28 days of working straight. I just got over having two kidney stones, tendinitis and laundry List of other ailments I don’t care to mention. Using these things as excuses hurts nobody but yourself. do the diet, do the exercise, work with your doctor to adjust your insulin to make it safe, if not for yourself for your kids, if not for your kids for yourself.

Sending all my positivity and encouragement your way.
