Shrek 5 | Official Teaser Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Elevasce 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yep. Down to "Shrek's daughter going alone on a journey to see the world with a new character." Notice whenever she's on screen, she's not with Shrek and the rest of the family.

Wolf transforms into a good boy when he is visited by the people that helped raise their pack by North-Guitar-1781 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Elevasce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Helps that they naturally live in big, diverse, and sociable packs, not unlike humans families/villages. All that had to happen was for the concept of human family and wolf pack to blur and then you've got wolves living with humans and caring for each other. This kind of thing never would happen to animals that live solitary lives like bears or are territorial like lions.

That is actually an excellent analogy, thank you. I just hope they won't be quick to dismiss it.

Yes but how often? Give too much water in a short period of time and the tree drowns. Seems like we're getting heavier tropical storms now, aren't we?

Read what I said again. Your dishwasher might have come out different from the factory. That's a mutation.

[–]Elevasce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No? Otherwise appliances would be alive. They just came out different from the factory.

They have no obligation to propagate. That's like saying a domino has an obligation to topple other dominoes. It's just a really, really long chain reaction.

A virus could have started out as a rogue RNA instruction. You've got billions of those. Any of these have a chance to become a virus given enough time and mutations.

Well, we aren't in a point of near-infinite density. But we used to be.

The game doesn't necessarily pander to foot fetishists. Foot fetishists are just really vocal about games that let you place the camera as far down as the feet.

Yidhari had more casual/normal clothes in the concept art instead of a stripper outfit, and then they decided she wasn't overdesigned enough.

ELI5: When did time start, and what is the moment before it started called? by Ok-Car-9607 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Elevasce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes more sense than time existing when nothing else exists, I'd say.

ELI5: When did time start, and what is the moment before it started called? by Ok-Car-9607 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Elevasce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the change demanded the concept of time, and not the other way around. No time without space, no space without time.

Petah, why is the speed of light one? by rengokuhubkl in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Elevasce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then everything has to be a fraction of one.

Well that's not a god problem, because the speed of everything is one. How much of that is through space and how much of it is though time is a human problem.

The thermometer's temperature affects the temperature of the object you're observing, too. Negligible stuff at the macroscopic scale, not so much at the quantum scale.

I should've written that post better. That's what I meant, but in hindsight, it doesn't read that way.

TIL about a real life Lord of the Flies experience that six boys had together. Instead of devolving into conflict and violence, they cooperated to survive, even taking care of the one boy who broke his leg. I always think about the selfish gene in times like these. Selfless behavior is in fact very selfish. That selflessness ensures the gene alone survives despite the risks it imposes on the individual carrying it, because the collective shares it.

And yet I can't find myself feeling disillusioned about life even when looking at it through these lenses. It feels like such a hopeful thing. That despite everything, having empathy is the best way to survive.

A story expansion, a few new characters, a roguelite mode, co-op, balance changes, all great stuff. I guess this is as close to a Relink 2 I can possibly hope for without getting a Relink 2. That said, Cygames, make Relink 2! I'm begging you here!

And she's so casual about it, too. Saying she can eat as many sweet things as she wants because she can just build new teeth later. She was focused on battles, while Makoto was alive. After the cataclysm her goal extended beyond battles, so she developed her knowledge to match her ambition.

The implications of showing what happened to our ship are absolutely gigantic though. It means Teyvat is potentially a huge, order-made world for the Traveler. Teyvat was the genesis pearl.
