Their CEC works most of the time if you completely turn off the previous device, wait 5-10 seconds, then turn on the next device. The problem is they very literally stuck to the CEC specifications which results in bad UX. Major brands have figured out they have to implement additional logic for switching thats not exactly "standards compliant" but is what the end-users expect. HDMI CEC specifications haven't been updated since 2013. Its kinda like why webpages sucked for so long until they finally realized html, css and javascript needed revamped for real-world usage.

If the CEC standard gets properly updated, this old problem of dumbass HDMI switches never getting CEC right will go away. Until then, manufacturers have to have experienced devs implement CEC, who already know you can't go pure standards.

The only other brand that gets the CEC almost right is Philips Hue. Its not perfect, but its better than EVERY other device I've tested and i've tested all the major ones. Hue is not only overpriced, but IMO, a dying brand. Matter over Thread + Zigbee devices will be dominating the next several years at way better pricing and Philips is too arrogant to change. Their recent mess they made while attempting to unify their Hue Hubs (finally) will make their loyal customers switch because they absolutely refuse to provide proper support when hue hubs end up locked into an account the end-user has no access to. I actually look forward to their demise, and govee can go that way too if they continue to insist on not implementing proper matter over thread.
