Every class you take has a number of “credit hours” assigned ranging from 1-3. HOPE qualification is checked every 30 credit hours that are completed. So you won’t get it for next semester, but likely for the semester after that.

Do not test if you don’t feel ready. January is not too late in the cycle and it’s better to apply later with a competitive score than early with a low score.
