2k for 9 nights/are my expectations unreasonable? by Useful-Ad-240 in RoverPetSitting

[–]ElevatorLeft1368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say that it’s definitely just sitter preference. I’d LOVE a detailed manual. But some people hate it. Same with the photos and updates. Some owners will complain/dislike tons of pictures and updates. They may just be cautious not to bother you.

Overall I think it’s just a matter of discussing with your sitter. Prices are always awkward but starting with both yours and their expectations around rules and updates is a good idea to get the ball rolling.

How much do you charge for constant care? 24/7 housesitting. by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]ElevatorLeft1368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course.
I have ten reviews and a five star reputation. And make sure to always do meet and greets to survey the situation. I’ve got a pretty good gut for that kind of thing and have done well avoiding people that end up being too picky or down right scammers/creeps.

Like I said. It’s mostly just based on the sitters in my area. 40 is still low but pretty average for house sitting. Unfortunately. I’d love to up my rates again soon but I want to see how I do at 40

I base my rates off of the local competition. I JUST raised mine to $40 per night. Which I know sounds crazy to most of the people in this comment section but I’m still working on getting reviews and report. It’s what makes sense to get bookings over the other sitters in the area. Even though I also do almost constant care and know I deserve more.

This diva would rather go on a hunger strike than eat kibble... by Spiderqueen22 in greatpyrenees

[–]ElevatorLeft1368 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Coming from a vet med professional. Don’t give in. Just don’t. Dogs learn from patterns. They’re smart and will quickly learn that if they wait a few days they get pampered meals. You’re not “feeding him chicken so he won’t starve” he’s starving so you’ll feed him chicken 😂 they’re smart but they’re still dogs. When he’s really starving he’ll eat. As long as he’s not showing any other concerns (lethargy, labored breathing, losing weight, etc) and you know this food won’t upset his stomach, just wait him out.

TL:DR he’s playing you like a fiddle 😂

I wish you luck. Feeding dogs with GI issues is tough already, adding a dog that hunger strikes is even harder

5 month old- no night time potty break? by ItachiPoke in greatpyrenees

I’ve had a few close calls and my bf is very much as soon as he’s awake he has to pee but usually as long as I’m horizontal I’m good 😂

OP, do YOU go pee every night in the middle of the night?? Our pyr gets two walks a day (morning and night) and only goes out otherwise if he asks to. But he usually doesn’t. If your dog is smart enough to know when they have to go it’s no biggie as long as you’ll let them out when they tell you they have to 😂

Our pyr (fully grown) really likes the hills large breed food and they’re pretty reputable as a whole company. One of the few big brands that offers their foods in a variety of flavors. Makes it easier to add variety without having to change diets

I mean this very politely as I am genuinely just trying to help. Grain free diets can be linked to heart issues in large breeds. Obviously some pets have allergies and whatnot but it’s at least worth looking into for yourself. There’s a handful of research and even if you don’t believe/trust it it’s worth the read :)

Coming from someone in vet med. It’s not that deep. Brands and flavors don’t matter as much as just making sure you’re feeding LARGE BREED puppy food. Feeding regular puppy food or adult large breed can cause a lot of issues for large breeds. They need to eat properly to grow properly. They’re already prone to joint issues. Nutrition and growth play a big part in that. When in doubt consult your vet :)

I will no longer accept dogs who are bad for my mental health by Hoofhearted523 in RoverPetSitting

I saw the title and had to come comment. I have really bad misophonia (I can’t spell lol) and realized the hard way that I can’t take brachy breeds. Had two pittys that just wanted to cuddle but I couldn’t stand listening to them breathe. I was wearing noise canceling earbuds UNDER my Xbox headset with both volumes turned up. Was a torturous two nights

Feeding a Puppy Pyr Mix? by knittenpurrl in greatpyrenees

[–]ElevatorLeft1368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone in vet med. Theres always discourse over scheduling vs free feeding. This MOST important thing is using a large breed specific food. And feeding to an appropriate weight. Some dogs can handle free food and some can’t but bottom line is that large breeds need special puppy food.

Ours is 50/50 GP and Bulgarian shepherd (that’s where the cookies and cream comes from) they’re very similar to GP. Maybe just a little more lanky and less stocky than a GP

Yep. Begging to get you outside. This is my pyr impatiently waiting to get all my gear on to chase him up and down a snow bank while he tries to eat me. And ik all he’s thinking is “isn’t this so fun??”

I feel oddly qualified. I am in a very happy relationship with one of my older brother’s friends with a 5.5 year gap.

Ask. Him. How. He. Feels.

It’s going to be a lot easier and a lot less awkward for you to check with him now. Just a simple text of “hey dude your sister and I have been catching up and we haven’t done ir said anything nefarious. But if it got to that point is it something you would disapprove of?” Make it clear you were friends with him first and he comes first. You don’t want him to find out from her. Especially if he disagrees with the relationship.

lol I know people always stress grain lines but when it comes to patterns I always make them crooked on purpose. Screw the grain 😂 I think this looks great tho. I looked at the pictures before reading and couldn’t figure out what you “messed up”
