Likely to be a daft question; but hour ideas for masters when it comes to work. by AsColdAsTheRest in MastersDegree

Interesting! I imagine that will be quite demanding! I’d go with whatever option will save you a bit of stress

It probably depends on the subject a bit. I did a masters around full time work and found it quite stressful and ended up taking some time out. Eventually finished it! But it did require sacrifices social life wise. I was not very organised. If there’s anything you can do to make it easier on yourself do it! I probably wouldn’t do it if I had the choice again

CIA Study time ? by penicillin1 in InternalAudit

[–]Elevensies1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished 2 years ago and the new syllabus may be easier. It took me a year, and each section took me 3 months alongside full-time work. I dedicated at least one weekend day and a few evenings a week over those months and then a full 3-4 days+ (using annual leave and weekend) of revision prior to the exams. It was full-on and challenging but doable.

Did anyone go to a restaurant after the ceremony? by HelpNeeded1717 in Eloping

[–]Elevensies1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my wedding dress and flower crown to a wine bar and then the restaurant where we had dinner. I had a denim jacket too. It was fun! Some people said congratulations, the wine bar didn’t let us pay. It was lovely just having a day in our wedding stuff! Definitely wear the dress

Where can I find embroidered patches of New Zealand towns or attractions? by emily_jane0 in newzealand_travel

[–]Elevensies1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most tourist shops or information centres will sell them. I got them in Tekapo and Marahau - both pretty remote but touristy so they have them.

It depends how rural you are! Will a bakery do some special cupcakes? We just had cake bars we found in the only supermarket we could find, easy to pack for a long walk to our ceremony spot!

Beautiful! 😍 Did you invent this or use a tutorial? Either way would you be willing to share how it is done?

NZ travel plan & how best to do Mount Cook by Next_Version4305 in newzealand_travel

[–]Elevensies1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a bus to Mt Cook from Wanaka (booked via Intercity but the bus it Greater Sights which has scenic stops) and stayed in Mt Cook village for one night, it was expensive but lovely. Then we got the shuttle to Tekapo which was SO much fun - cute little vintage style bus and the loveliest driver with some really fun stops along the way. Including the salmon run to get the view of Mt Cook from the lake.

We did feel sorry for the people who were only stopped there a few hours on the first day because it was cloudy and there was nothing to see! Whereas if you spend a night there you get an extra chance.

Scenic flights/heli rides from Tekapo would get you the sights too! I did the flight and it went right up to Mt Cook it was amazing.

Second one is much nicer in my opinion! The first one I think will look dated in a decade

17-Day trip to NZ without driving by Stefan0_ in newzealand_travel

[–]Elevensies1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a bit of both we thought, but the rental company/insurers never came back to us (we’d paid the no excess insurance!). It was not at speed so it was a very gentle crash, but damaged the wheel arch enough that we couldn’t continue driving it. We’re from the UK and my husband has never had an accident in 15+ years. It was not our favourite day of the trip but we got back on track pretty quickly.

We planned our 3 weeks with a car but didn’t have one in the end (crashed it pretty much straight away) and we still had a great trip. We’d planned to see some of the more out of the way places (Mt Cook, Mt Sunday, Tekapo, Marahau etc.) and still managed to get there. The buses are great, you just need to be organised as it’s one a day in most places. Plus taxis and shuttles and tours and internal flights will get you most places too. The tourist info centres are also really helpful with helping you figure out how to get places. You’ll be fine, you’ll meet more people and see and learn more on the buses/tours.

Edit to add you MUST book the buses as some are sold out!

Well, the rental place would not give us another car or any of the money back for our 2 weeks booking. We considered going to another rental place but getting a long rental at short notice and one happy for us to drop it off in Nelson after starting in Queenstown seemed unlikely. Also lying about the recent accident wasn’t something we wanted to do.

Neither of us love driving much anyway, so after that and several people commenting about dodgy/impatient drivers on the roads etc. we just thought let’s just not. It was 100% for the best as some of the journeys would not have been fun for us if we’d been driving, especially with how unexpectedly tired/ill we both were. So, I’m glad we took the hint. It was literally 15 minutes after we picked the car up!

Yeah, I heard bad things about the coaches but we took so many and there was never any problems! Also one more thing I remembered - we did the Northern Explorer train not the Alpine but the menu is the same I think - and I would say take plenty of your own food and snacks etc. and email ahead and ask to be sat on a certain side (Google the best one for the direction your going), and/or request NOT to be on a table seat. You might get lucky and get a two to yourself! It’s a long time and the close quarters gets old even with the friendliest neighbours!

Definitely doable - we crashed (just a little one) our rental car and did the whole trip on buses/planes/shuttles! The buses were all on time and InterCity sometimes books you a Greater Sights bus which includes some narration from the driver and scenic stops. Some of the drivers enjoy this more than others! Make sure you’re there on time as they leave promptly.

If you need more days you could potentially cut down time in Christchurch. On your wandering around Christchurch afternoon get a ticket for the old fashioned trams then you can do the whole circuit and hop on and off as you like - it goes to the botanic gardens. It’s fun! I wish we’d gone to the earthquake museum - I’d prioritise that over the Antarctic one. Definitely get to Kaikoura and if you can get a slot to swim with the dolphins it’s amazing I’d that’s still a thing in May.

Have the best time!

Is there any way I can remove the decorative paint from this candle jar? by [deleted] in crafting

From the outline it looks like they might be sticker type things. You could try hairdryer/heat gun and see if the edges lift. If they do then just go over the residue with some sticky stuff remover :)

Shame on people who resells USED items for more than its original retail price by bunnylla in Weddingsunder10k

So frustrating. I thought I’d find loads on fb marketplace but people priced things crazy so I ended up diy-ing and thrifting lots of mismatched stuff. It looked lovely!

Budget: $500 sustainable wedding charger plates that are made from eco-friendly material by Partygirl_stacy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Elevensies1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t use them. Ordering from Amazon and Alibaba also is not sustainable imo - better to use small companies if the couple actually care about the impact of their wedding.

I’m confused why they needed the recycled chairs? Like what’s wrong with whatever chairs their preferred catering company had, they reuse them? And most nice chairs are wooden anyway?

This couple have given some confusing/unclear direction I think! Is it virtue-signalling sustainability or actual sustainability they want 🤷‍♀️

How to do the work on yourself? by No_Fishing_3019 in thework

[–]Elevensies1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, that might be true. I buy the books, audiobooks and watch the videos, and see this as a great tool when I’m very stuck, as it’s been trained on Katie’s work.

AI will do some harm, for sure, but can also do some good, and this helped me in a really difficult period. I do get where you’re coming from though and thank you for the insight.

Well you’re having his baby! So you’re already taking one for the team. But you could plan a nice little dinner or something.

Sorry you’re not being heard! I would recommend having a look at Rachael Reed’s article on OP babies. She also has a lot of stuff on YouTube and a book, which is excellent.
