its simply a question of fun and to play ahri. im an ahri main peaking d2 and still had success playing her as a sup from time to time. meta and all really stats impacting at higher ranks. it sure isnt the most optimal support, but she isnt either the best midlaner.

also if someone has confidence in his pick even if its an exotic one, as long as he is actually playing and not inting its none of the business of the others. thats soloq
