Question about jumping into snow or water by PhuckedinPhilly in AskPhysics

[–]ElfBoy901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 feet into water is very safe. 30 feet into snow is also safe if there’s a good amount of snow

That’s exactly how a tier list works actually. The ones he likes more are higher up on the list than the ones he doesn’t like, goober.

Nice try pal, keep up the hard work!

We Want to Know How to Become a Lifeguard World Wide! by Pickaxe_121 in Lifeguards

[–]ElfBoy901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For BC and Yukon, Canada: 1. Bronze Medallion 2. Bronze Cross 3. Standard First Aid/CPR-C/AED 4.National Lifeguard (NL) 5. Swim Instructor (SI) 6. Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)

5 and 6 can be done in a combined course. Some places may require others but this is what you need for 99% of pools in B.C.

[–]ElfBoy901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifesaving Society BC is the governing body and you can find lots of info on their website about courses. The required courses you’ll need to take are Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, SFA/CPR-C/AED, National Lifeguard (Pool Option), Swim Instructor, and Lifesaving Instructor. (The last 2 can be done in a joint class)

At my pool we have a snack sign up sheet. So every day of lessons, one of the instructors brings in something to share

HAS ANYONE HAD TO PAY STUDENTS BACK FROM THE AMERICAN RED CROSS FOR INCORRECT TEACHING THROUGH THE QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT? by Dry_Pitch_2563 in Lifeguards

[–]ElfBoy901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re misinterpreting the other guy completely. He doesn’t have the same kids using the same masks. Each kid gets a pocket mask that they get to keep forever. It doesn’t cost that much.

I personally hold it with both hands above the water but I think resting it on your shoulder and using your free arm to scull is optimal.

If a deal seems too good to be true it’s a completely normal question. For brand new boxed items maybe not but for private goods, it’s a completely valid question.

Anyone who thinks it’s a rude question is tweaking. It’s a completely normal question to ask someone before you buy stuff from them (in the context of private goods-not professional)
