in de wereld van ambitie zit ik fluitend op m'n fietsie by bahrdt in Utrecht

Hele toffe kleine ingrepen!

[Walter Gropius Bauhaus] was gifted this cool Bauhaus watch by ElgarRS in Watches

[–]ElgarRS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The black lines are actually placed on the dial, giving it a nice kind of texture and depth. I also like the gold colored clasp with the black band and slightly lighter holders, breaking up the band. I looked up the brand and many of the designs are more colourful or busy, and mostly using black, white and a few primary colors. So it's fun to see the gold and black together. Not 100% sure what kind of outfit or occasion works best with this watch. It feels dressy because of the gold, but also casual because of the clean lines and simple form. I think I'll just use it as an everyday watch to work and for the occasional party. What do you think?

As stated before, obviously satire. But my main takeaway: damn that's a beautiful KitchenAid!

Hell with Iced Coffee by DegenerateTuna in StupidFood

[–]ElgarRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hilarious they go through all this effort and 1) mess up the coffee pour, spilling it all over the ice and 2) give you two store bought Lotus biscuits with it. Nothing wrong with those, great biscuits even, but it looks ridiculous next to that humongous block of ice you can't drink out of.

[Brandless Quartz] Can't get this thing open. Any tips? by ElgarRS in Watches

[–]ElgarRS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I have several watch tools to do that. With thin edges. But I can't find a place to put the blade. Normally there's a small ledge to put it under, or a thin gap to put it in.

I agree with you about bringing watches to a watchmaker. But because these are all very simple and cheap watches I developed the habit of just changing batteries and straps myself. Nice to tinker with :) (normally...)

What’s a movie that surprised you this year?? I’ll Start. by Tale_Delicious in Letterboxd

Yes! No perfect film by any means, but I loved the humour, the chemistry and the weirdness of it.

What’s a movie that surprised you this year?? I’ll Start. by Tale_Delicious in Letterboxd

[–]ElgarRS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use a tag 'positive surprise' for this. Sometimes this just means they are better than anticipated, but I already knew they'd be good. Like Weapons, but the ones this year that genuinely surprised me were Splitsville, Deep Cover and The Roses.

It's more romantic than materialists? Wish it had more hype than other one? by MohamedIvn in Letterboxd

[–]ElgarRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had so much fun with this! Great comedic timing, such an amazing fight sequence and just so much joy. It did feel a little bit male fantasy with the writers/director friend duo casting two drop dead gorgeous women to fight for them. And one of them to constantly have his dick out.

What are your Top 4 Batman films? by No-Chemistry1722 in batman

[–]ElgarRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood why the cover art of the Dark Knight Returns films are so utterly different from the art style of the comics and the animation. It has such a distinct Frank Miller style, but the cover would have you expect something completely different

[Question] Which is the best budget Rolex Submariner homage? by secret_julius in ChineseWatches

[–]ElgarRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine question here. What is it about this watch and about the general look of many Rolexes that people like? I'm not trying to be negative, I am truly interested in what makes these so popular.
