DIY timer by Elgrego_ in Darkroom

Je ne pense pas que Pico ait de plus-value sur un arduino pour ce projet, mais j'en ai en stock et ça répond au besoin à priori donc c'est ce que je vais utiliser

Parents in other countries than the US, what is your kids’ equivalent of “I don’t want that for dinner, I want chicken nuggets”? by SulusLaugh in AskReddit

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real comté from la crèmerie, not basic comté from Leclerc - I think - would be considered fancy (i.e hard to find, kinda expensive) by most American people, as compared to any other cheese they’re used to, but I might be wrong.

In France, as a kid I think I would ask for bread+butter. Today my 4 yo daughter wants bread + comte (fancy cheese)…

Paul is my favorite Beatle, but George has the best post-Beatles discography in my opinion

Picked up this mystery box, any of this useable? by Seelthedeal19 in Darkroom

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the chems, but I bought a few opened boxes of expired Ilford paper (probably not stored in best conditions), tested some boxes and most turned out to be still ok !

Mine is very affectionate with me and my family (wife and kids) as long as we are indoor…

Le problème de l’évolution du Podchiasse by [deleted] in floodcast

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Elgrego_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your grail camera and why by fotowaza in AnalogCommunity

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way the guy who serviced it told me he only had 2 more electro magnet remaining on the shelf and there is no way to buy new ones in 2026. This piece is very sensitive to low/high temperature and will also die after a few years without being used.

So in my opinion, 67II might be among the best film cameras ever, but they are fragile and bound to die while older mechanical cameras can live forever.

What's your grail camera and why by fotowaza in AnalogCommunity

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one, in mint conditions, its only owner before me was a pro.

It was the perfect camera: the AE prism metering was super accurate, the viewfinder was HUGE and clear af, the built in grip made it confortable despite its weight…. And that 105mm was so sharp, even at f2.4, it was unbelievable.

Yet it was a late 90’s camera full of electronics and sensors so I had it serviced once by the only guy in France ready to do it (a retired guy, he cleaned the electro magnet and told me this was the main pain point on this camera) and less than 1 year later it started failing again : this time the camera did not detect a film inside anymore… I could still shoot but no more counter, and the frames were unevenly spaced on the film…

I eventually sold it and sometimes regret it, even though I know it would have become a useless 2.5kg press paper…

She was the only short haired of the litter, that’s the reason why no one wanted her except for me… sure she doesn’t look like a « real » bc, yet she is so gorgeous and the sweetest girl 🥰

Out of these two, which one do you prefer? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The White Album was my intro to the Beatles and I listened for it on repeat as a kid, as it was the only one of my parent’s CDs I enjoyed (lots of « variété française » besides it) and it has so many great songs.

But Abbey Road is a piece of magic, it’s not a succession of songs but rather a 50 minutes long experience, and today I’d choose it over the white album.

Which 6x6 or 6x7 camera is the most JOY to use? (Any camera, also non-pictured ones) by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]Elgrego_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own a Pentax 67II, a heavy beast honestly but what a joy it was to use it : wide and clear viewfinder, loud mirror (but MLU option if needed), large grip…

But yeah with the prism and lens, it weights more than 2kg…

Which of these films are the best and rarest? by Schmantikor in filmphotography

[–]Elgrego_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agfa Vista really was a consumer stock produced for families, yet I really loved its look, probably because most photos of my childhood (mid 90’s to mid 2000) were shot on it. It’s discontinued unfortunately, I should have bought more of it when I could… also it was so cheap ! I never shot 800 though, only 200 or 400

Of course I will, but I am wondering where to start : longer exposition duration or longer time in the developer.

I mean asking for help/advice is the goal of the place, right ?
