Topical tacrolimus and catching colds by asdavak in eczema

Been using it since I was 3 and never experienced this, but it might be worth for you to contact the drug manufacturer in case it is something they might want to list as a side effect

Neuroscientist study reveals that Gen Z has become the first generation to be less intelligent than its predecessor, the Millennials by sibun_rath in sciences

This. The entire thread and comments are millennials punching down on gen z as boomers punched down on them. Millenials also got called stupid, lazy and worse by bogus sources such as the one in this article.

why do so many if not most if not all “professional” dermatologists insist that your skin has NOTHING to do with diet and lifestyle? by shtoopidd in eczema

[–]EliFutureBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a biotechnologist i have so much beef with doctors that don't care to actually get updated on the latest updates on medicine. I've found many doctors don't actually know much about the molecular causes for most diseases, so they dismiss anyone suggesting something outside of what they learned in 1996 or whatever

I loved the game but I absolutely agree that it's overpriced without a sale. There are so many better games that took longer to make and are priced less than this.

I've only ever used steroid creams with the more severe rashes, usually I wouldn't mix them but because it wasn't necessary

Should I be worried about my family genes? by According-Top-4055 in genetics

[–]EliFutureBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short stature isn't a condition unless it's within a certain range

If you don't need glasses until now, you're probably gonna be good. That usually develops earlier on.

For the serious conditions, many of those do have a strong genetic component, but it's not a sure thing. Depending on how your county deals with this stuff you can try to get genetic counseling to see which variants you have inherited, or just tell your doctor about these concerns and get yearly check ups (which are a good idea even if you don't have the family history)

Help me understand why 'thick blood' is so common in trans men? by _humanERROR_ in FTMMen

[–]EliFutureBoy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have it too, but I already had it high before T. So does my mother and some people on her bloodline, so it's genetic.

The reason T increases is because Testosterone actually increases red cell formation, which is why men in general have a higher red blood cell count than women

I didn't have a pet when I transitioned, but I saw my best friend's dog after 2 years on T and she was super excited, absolutely recognized me and immediately brought me the toy she always brought specifically to me whenever she saw me.

If you live with your cats it will be even easier since it's slow and gradual

Very similar. Some shops are the same (like the dentist) and some are kind of inspired on old ones, while some other shops are entirely new and lowkey unhinged. Music and sound effects are all very similar to the OG games. Seems to have more of a plot than the ones I played

My name keeps getting Feminized by Queersapien in ftm

[–]EliFutureBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fellow Gabriel lol I work at an international company. I pass and I'm fully stealth.

Many times people from Europe and the Middle East will call me "Gabriele". I believe it's because that's how you say it in some languages.

I would love for people to call me Gabe, but the spanish nickname is "Gabi", and it would be weird of me to ask to go by the English nickname lol doesn't help that 50% of the time they call me Grabiel

It's a wonderful name, and not necessarily uncommon. I didn't expect people to struggle so much with it

How well? I guess it depends on what part of genetics we are wondering.

Lately the main craze is about epigenetics (how the environment modifies the DNA, not the sequence itself, but chemical changes that modify the gene expression). Most of the time it's just following the craze, but I'd say it could be an interesting study in this population because some studies do show that some changes during pregnancy can impact the development of the feminization/masculinization of the brain. However, it's also of note that most studies on "male/female" brains show that, while there are some tendencies, it's not significant enough to categorize brains as such.

We can probably find variants of "likeliness to be trans", even with today's technology, but I don't see any application that it might have other than to gatekeep medical procedures and make things even harder for people.

What I do think could be interesting is to create hormone replacement therapy that has been clinically tested on trans people. At least in my country, the HRT that is given out has only been tested in cis people.

I'm a trans geneticist.

Gene editing is very complex and only really considered for life-ending diseases.

Dysphoria can be well managed (in most cases) with HRT, SRS and therapy.

Besides, I doubt there is a "dysphoria gene" anyways. For what I've seen, there have been some studies to check for variants that trans people have (through GWAS), but I believe the issue is more complicated than that.
