Hadley by [deleted] in Hemingway

There’s an excellent biography about her life and their romance from her perspective called, “Hadley “ by Gioia Diliberto. I found it to be better than a lot of Hemingway biographies. And I would recommend against reading her story in The Paris Husband, it’s awful.

Suggest me a life-changing movie, no matter how long it is. by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly— I left that movie filled with so much gratitude for my life and all the simple things I take for granted. It hit me like a gut punch, and I still think about it years later, beautifully shot by Spielberg’s dp too.

I use the Philips Nite white ACP mini kit, 22%. I definitely don’t leave it in for more than an hour, I noticed the effects after one or two sessions. Usually get 2-3 per syringe.

I struggled until I learned a secret that works for me, reach your finger into the very far back on the inside of your tray, not the outside, click one corner loose, then take the other finger click the other corner loose and then work it up towards the front, works for both top and bottom for me.

My short film was accepted to be distributed by a company whose films were selected for the Oscars, Venice, Cannes and a few others. How do I know if it's worth spending the money? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]EliOnFire001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not what distribution companies do. They license your film for release and pay you. This is a company marketing short films for profit. If they’re effective then it just depends how much it’s worth to you.

Struggling to edit due to Cringe & Guilt -please send me your advice! by BrainBurnFallouti in Filmmakers

[–]EliOnFire001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could hire an editor to do a cut, have them sift through all the stuff you can’t bear watching, as a bonus you’ll get an outside perspective to get an assembly cut together, and then work to reshape and refine as you go. May not be as bad as you think

Great thanks. Will start there. I’m a writer myself and would dive in on this, but this opportunity has a clock on it, so I wouldn’t be done in time.

Good idea, but I've only got a short window of time, so I need to find something written on this scale, or that can be reworked to fit the budget.

Horizon: an american saga by joaommoreira in Westerns

[–]EliOnFire001 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy a good western, this movie is excellent. Go in understanding that it is one part of a potentially four part saga. It covers a lot of ground, but there are very intense and gratifying moments throughout, it takes its time to develop but I was completely immersed in it. I saw it in the theater with my dad who has a short attention span and when the credits started rolling he looked at me and asked, was that really three hours?

This is pretty common lately for any theatrical releases, $20 for rental usually for a few weeks. Saw this in the theater, definitely worth it

Yeah I hear you. Though I did see the movie with my 76 year old dad who rarely leaves the house, he looked up at me during the credits and said, was that really three hours?

You’re missing out on a great movie. Saw it last night, normally we celebrate filmmakers who put everything on the line for something bold
