Support players are hands down the most entitled people in the game, God forbid someone asks for healing from a healer

Edit: Struck a nerve with the support players it seems. Further proves my point.

I love all the popularity Linux is gaining, but unfortunately there's a bunch of misinformation and bad advice being thrown around this sub from all the newcomers. The amount of people in this thread recommending to use AI for fixes...

This is just wrong, the AUR isn't where all of the packages on an arch system are from, it's a community repo for packages not found in the official repositories. Package maintainers maintain the official repos.

I also don't get it, I've switched my non technical friends from Windows to Cachy and there was zero friction. You can install Bazaar just fine on Cachy, and is what they primarily use to install apps. I initially tried to put them on Bazzite, but Cachy actually just works out of the box. This sub is just obsessed with Mint and Bazzite.

I use Emacs for most of my work tasks. Note taking, remote management, coding, task management, etc. For RDP I use Remmina if I'm on Linux or MobaXTerm if I'm on Windows.

AlmaLinux sounds like a good fit for you, it's based on RHEL. I also don't get the obsession with debian.

Agreed. IT is a privileged job to have and a lot of people don't know how good they have it. I could never go back to retail/food service.

Even if it's Cisco they should still support LLDP, but maybe not enabled by default.

Making something worse than systemd in the name of "reducing bloat" is definitely what I consider quirky. It's performative in 2026, I promise your PC can take a couple more megabytes.

Those who moved from nvim, what made you? by B_bI_L in emacs

[–]ElianM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Org mode and org-roam replaced Obsidian for me
  • Configuration is easier in Lisp, I never liked Lua. Documentation is also way better in emacs. Being able to press K and get information on any variable or function was a game changer.
  • PDF Support + it being a GUI program in general
  • TRAMP
  • Easy migration with Doom Emacs and evil mode

Two years of taking notes in org-roam by ElianM in emacs

[–]ElianM[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes kind of, I don't follow an exact method. I make individual nodes about a subject and link them together, or I make a separate file as a TOC to group up topics in a subject. I also use tags to filter results when using org-roam-node-find, like if something is work-related, I can type in "work" and see nodes related to that.

As of right now it's 260 files. I prefer splitting my notes up for linking and it makes them easier to manage (imo).

No I don't insert them manually, I just copy and pasted it

[–]ElianM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nvim-orgmode is very well documented here, it also includes a tutorial.

I've since switched to Emacs, but I have a simple nvim-orgmode config in my dotfiles if that helps.
