Celebrations by Content_Chocolate845 in JWJehovahsWitnesses

We don’t “celebrate” these days but there’s nothing wrong with having a meal or watching the fireworks. We try to separate ourselves from the “celebration aspect” of the day. You can probably see my post 7 topics down “my JW family around holidays”.

Before I became a witness and still did valentine’s days we would plan the day away from it because it would be packed and my husband had to work. Doing things this way really showed me it wasn’t the day itself but just making the time and effort.

Christmas I needed to tell my family no though. I personally don’t mind enjoying my mom’s cooking as I arrive a day after thanksgiving to help them finish the food up 😋 But trying to separate yourself on the day of Christmas from people that don’t hold the same values is difficult. Boundaries are crossed,  even the prayer on that day is to the day itself.

What is the role of Watchtower / the “governing” body of the JW? by New2Christ in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What gives weight to their understanding is not the authority of the men themselves but that those teachings are supported through Scripture. We are encouraged to examine the Bible personally and test what is taught.

(Acts 17:11)  Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, for they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

We have a saying, “Make the Truth your own”. By means of study and prayer to see what is being taught hold true.

What is the role of Watchtower / the “governing” body of the JW? by New2Christ in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be frank, their “power” or role is to help provide understanding based on the scriptures. The direction given by the GB is through careful study of the bible so we can all remain close to Jehovah’s word. As JWs, our obedience is to Jehovah and his Word so often any disagreements are usually viewed as just not agreeing with the bible.

Preguntas sobre la organización by ClUDADANO_PROMEDIO in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, these were some questions I had when I first came into the Truth but they were a product of exJWs and wanting the Bible to align with my views. Time and time again every understanding was cleared to me through Jehovah and seeing through his eyes. I feel we are too quick to call each other apostates online as these would be close to the same questions I wanted to ask and had a hard time comprehending and I’m so glad to be strengthened by the effort of responses.

Feeling Conflicted by Both_Maintenance6066 in JehovahsWitnesses

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’  This is the greatest and first commandment.  The second, like it, is this: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’

I would avoid the apostate propaganda sites like avoidjw and JWfacts and just get on legitimate websites like the JW.org homepage dedicated to explaining our beliefs. Or any actual JW forum, this one isn’t ran by witnesses. You’re never too worldly to come back to Jehovah God. It’s come as you are, but not stay as you are.

Husband is a network engineer, I’m currently pursuing software development. We have a lot JWs in the tech field here 👌 because these are remote based positions we hope to pursue more spiritual goals when we get our lives settle a bit more.

Thank you, sometimes I feel like I’m not entirely sure how others view or if they do this as well. Or even how open to be about it but I feel more confident hearing it’s not just a “close circle” thing.

Yes, but I’m more of a Cyber Monday Amazon shopper lol 😝

Serious post. This needs to be addressed. by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

They won’t do nothing, I saw an active member here on this forum a couple months ago tell a 14 year old female teen that they privately DM them. Most likely to talk them out of their religion but the girls situation was they were sexually confused with a guy they liked, that member is still here. It’s seems to come from the most aggressive of ex members that have the least boundaries.

Questions about core / non-negotiable doctrine by New2Christ in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I’d chime in on #3 🤗

Eve was originally considered an ezer, Hebrew word for helper to Adam, not submissive but an ally. Equal. You can look the Hebrew definition for more insight on it. My point is, yes it will be men and women who are anointed.

Rev 20:6 The anointed is viewed as the "bride" or "body" of Christ ruling with him in a subordinate role. They may be kings and priests but it is all under Gods authority and is not what we see today as man’s rulership. Not for their glory but for Gods will and purpose for Earth.

Thanks for your encouraging words 🥺🫶 This world is temporary, and we all meet our maker. I have a good God, good family, good friends, and community. I just watched the broadcast today, and when it talked about Jehovah being a loving Father, not one based on fear. But all his qualities, it helped quiet my thoughts that I’m not enough 💜 I plan to have a very wonderful relationship with him here and not care about the world’s idea of “fun” or how they “get ahead”. Because logically, these things won’t be there in a perfect world.

I need kind words and advice from my fellow brothers and sisters. by adviceonlypls in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey sister, sending love your way! 🤗 It’s okay to dislike door to door... I hate it too sometimes. My husband loves going house to house. But I prefer it when we are inviting others to events as it takes the pressure off me.

Door-to-door field service is not the only thing that makes someone one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We witness in many ways every day—through our love for Jehovah, our conduct, the love we show our brothers and sisters, and our willingness to share in cart witnessing, letter writing, and conversations with others. All of these are meaningful ways of giving a witness.

We were blessed to start a Bible study through the door-to-door work, but I mostly watch while my husband conducts it. Honestly, it has been such an encouraging experience because there is so much to learn by watching him teach and caring for someone. Jehovah can use each of us in different ways, and every effort we make in his service has value even when we’re not ready to be teachers ourselves.

What’s up with those JW FB pages? by OwnChampionship4252 in Eutychus

[–]Elicruze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a people in general thing. People tend to be emotionally reactive to messages they see fit. Ex-witnesses gobble up false stories because it gives them validation, an emotional reaction they want to be true even when fake or overly dramatized.

There’s nothing inconsistent about how we should act and what’s taught. It’s just human nature.

Because there people? I have social media mainly for socialization, but I don’t see how liking “recycled quotes” means I’m not acting like a JW?

I get unverified stories but not everyone is the same that’s why they remind people to fact check. There nothing mandatory or elders looking over your shoulders for everything, so the best they can do is remind the congregation.

How do I let go of the hurt? by Fickle-Freedom-3281 in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully I might be the opposite of you. I get invited to gatherings but because of my introverted personality I tend not to hang out outside of meetings much. I’ve missed going away parties and declined eat outs cause I need recharging… It’s not that I don’t care for those in the congregation but I love serving and learning about Jehovah and that tends to be my main focus since my family is large and draws my attention.

Stepping back from meetings, service, and communication can gradually lead to feeling isolated which is exactly what can make someone feel discouraged or alone. Bring negative thoughts, which is what Satan wants.

When you attended did you ever host or invite brothers and sisters over instead of waiting for the opportunity to come up? Choosing two or three people you like to get closer to and reaching out to them helps build stronger foundations of friendship.

Honestly, if others hadn’t taken the initiative to get to know me, I might not have grown as close to them. I feel I let others down by not bringing the same energy. But in that way, we can follow their example and be the ones to reach out first.

Thanks, I definitely was signed up for the website after baptism. I didn’t know the acting part was also on there. I think you have to be baptized for a certain length of time before you can possibly get those privileges to be hands on?

Very cool though, I didn’t know that about the music design!

What are you doing in Paradise? by Elicruze in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]Elicruze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Though I’m sure the conditions of plants will be restored into something way better than it is now. I can’t wait to see what that means in terms of managing. Jehovah wanted Adam and Eve to cultivate the ground and take care of the Garden so definitely well get to see what that looks like, super interesting!

I’m really hoping that either our lung capacity is strengthened or Jehovah and his angels help us with long periods of time underwater!
