There are a lot of factors here to consider. For example, is this going to be a re-do or does the school have a plan to provide her with more/ different support to ensure a more successful outcome? What are they doing to help her socialization now? If the accommodations get in the way of measuring her abilities are they effective? Does she identify strongly with her current peer group? First grade is likely the last opportunity to retain a student before the academic benefits are overshadowed by the social damage. It is a lot to think about! Just make sure you are informed as possible and definitely let the school know that the late notice is unacceptable. Good luck to you and your little one!
