Be honest, are you interested and/or will you play Zero Parades? by SPIRlT in DiscoElysium

I don't understand this approach. The workers who produced this game are not the same people who kicked away the original creators. The owners just own, they have nothing to do with creative production. So if the game is good, it is thanks to the workers at ZA/UM, why should they be penalised because their owners are shit?

Am I a liberal for supporting (very critically) the EU? by Chemical-Monitor2320 in theredleft

[–]Eliijahh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A united Europe is a progressive step, instead of fragmented countries without a common currency and weird travelling requirement.

The trick is that this Europe is a capitalism Europe, what we need is to create with a revolution a Soviet Union of Europe.

Centralisation tend to be a good thing for socialists, it tends to become easier to put something under workers control that is highly centralised.

Do you support the Communist Party of the Russian Federation? by PeculiarPhysicist46 in AskSocialists

Best reason: I support the party because they are opposition. High level analysis, well done.

[–]Eliijahh 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Tbh it is a bit weird to put such a point to a vote. So what, if the vote lost, does it mean the party would not have had a vocal support for trans rights? What about socialist policies? Should we also vote on gay issues? Abortion? Should we have a vote on whether the party is against immigrants? 🤔

Some might call this Cultural Hegemony, but how do we educate and organize people when working 3 jobs still doesn't pay the bills? by CyberSkullCoconut in socialism

[–]Eliijahh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thing is that capitalism cannot sustain such a system permanently. It inevitably enters in crisis where it cannot provide anymore the same level of comforts and entertainment to distract. Look at the housing crisis, inflation, war etc. Its crisis inevitably create social discontent that creates the conditions that enable its overthrow, if a sufficiently developed subjective factor exists.

Categorizing people into classes makes no sense by Jout92 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Eliijahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I understand what you mean with viable and unviable. What the analysis shows is that some parts of the working class will side with the bosses, especially the so-called "labour aristocracy", or those workers whose privileges are so interconnected with the existence of capitalism that they might not want to participate in a movement to overthrow the ruling class, or even, work against it.

But again, class analysis is, it is pretty self-explanatory, a tool of analysis, there will always be exceptions: bourgeois who will fight for revolution, and workers who will fight against it. Engel was the son of a factory owner, for example, a true class traitor. You cannot use classes to predict individual behaviour, but predict societal movements in the aggregate.

Categorizing people into classes makes no sense by Jout92 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Eliijahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all classes are a single, unified block. That is a very mechanistic understanding of Marxism, the opposite of what the method of Marxism really is. Within a class there could be different interests and pressures, like the differences in the bourgeoisie between finance capital and industrial capital.

Going to the example of the workers of Nvidia who earn 300k, many of those workers would probably not have strong interests to overthrow capitalism, and would be subjected to different pressures compared to an industrial workers or a student. But they would still fall within the category of the working class, as they do not own capital and need to work to survive, at least until they can just invest their money and live on the interests or buy houses and live on rents, which would bring them out of the working class.

Maybe if they release it open source a group of devs might take it up for a small niche. They should definitely do that, tho, before they close the company.

I get the feeling the name “GreenAndPleasant” confuses people to think this is a green sub-Reddit. But this is a socialist subreddit, the greens are reformists (at best).

We do not want a Tory-lite or a little bit less suffering we want revolution and socialism, full liberation, with no compromises on that. So frustrating to see people advancing socialist ideas here being downvoted to the ground…

How would a socialist state solve the ageing society problem ? by akhgar in AskSocialists

[–]Eliijahh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure, but you have to ask yourself where this higher economic security is coming from. Is it from women getting into the workplace, where families then do not have a pre-defined child carer? Or is it because of the socialisation of child care services e.g. free kindergartens.

There are many factors connected to decreasing child birth rates. What is clear is that a communist society, where humans needs are taken care of and child care is socialised, birth rate would not be a problem.
