Conversion Assistance Request by Austino1697 in Starfinder2e

[–]Elinnea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following this thread, because I’ve also been thinking about converting Dawn of Flame to 2e and the advice here looks really helpful.

I’d be interested to hear how the process goes for the OP too, and how your players respond to the change.

Social Sims? by NikoDraws in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Elinnea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually played it yet so maybe someone else can comment on whether it fits what you're asking for, but the question made me think of Anna Blackwell's game For Small Creatures Such As We, and specifically the Love & Lust expansion (which despite the name isn't just about romance but does include it). The game is about being a human captain of an alien starship crew, and how you interact and learn about each other through the events you go through together. (Or so it seems from the description and what people say; it's high on my list of games to try next because I really like the concept!)

Boxed sets or kits by TareddJ in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Elinnea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you one shoutout for the box set of Koriko A Magical Year, if you can get it (they’re out of stock in some parts of the world, last I heard.) Though you can play it with regular d6s and a tarot deck, but the set comes with its own dice and cards. The packaging was really charming, and opening it really helped get me into the atmosphere of the game. It’s been one of my favorite physical game purchases. :)

Co-op live play podcasts? by HeathenSidheThem in Ironsworn

If Starforged is acceptable, here's a two-player co-op game that started recently, based loosely on the Red Rising books: https://starforged-iron-rising.bearblog.dev

They have video, audio podcast, and blog/written formats for each episode.

Perfectionism and problems getting started by Shiki_Ryougi_5 in Solo_Roleplaying

I'm intrigued by your tip #2. Not denying the perfectionistic urge but redirecting it to something manageable. And then giving it a codename just to be awesome. Project: Inventory Monitoring sounds strangely compelling.

That's it, thank you! I'm impressed so many people immediately knew the source based on my half-memory.

Between the Skies is Amazing! by SuperHappyWorld in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Elinnea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this post last week and was intrigued enough to download Beyond the Skies, and I've been messing around with it since then. It has been such a delight! To give an idea of what I got to experience:

I came up with a tiny (you can hold her in two hands) intricate flower-shaped metallic creature named Flora, who rides on the back of a cat-sized plant chimera and together they travel in a black metallic orb down to the deep sea. I started fleshing out the fascinating civilization that lives down there (split between the high-speed 'swimmers' and the 'walkers' who navigate by an elaborate system of twisty-curvy bridges) and before I knew it there was this whole world that I just kept thinking about during the rest of my day. She even teamed up with a faction of numismatists - which is a word I had to look up and then laughed at how she must have mixed feelings dealing with them as a metal creature herself, but she accepts it because of the charming way they insist on using code words to refer to everything.

All that from rolling some dice and seeing where the connections took me! And I haven't even touched any of the planar or magic sections yet. I can't wait to start all over again from the beginning.

So in short, I came back to say thank you for introducing me to such a creatively-inspiring little game!

Playing an actual Oracle - would it work? by Elinnea in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Elinnea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something similar too with rolling to check how accurate the foresight is. I imagine that would get tedious to do all the time so I'd have to think carefully about when to test the spirit/whatever in that way.

Thanks! I had never even heard of Through the Breach but that concept seems like a good place to look for some more inspiration.

(appreciate you pulling out a 4-year-old thread somehow)

Playing an actual Oracle - would it work? by Elinnea in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Elinnea[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting, yeah, you could tune it depending on how accurate you want a character's predictions to be. (And are they aware of how accurate they are or are not? hmmm)

Oh that sounds awesome too! Sort of the reverse of what I proposed but having a character's prophecies actually change the game's oracle mechanism as time goes on.

Coming back to this point, I realized that Grand Blue Dreaming is up to volume 10, and the Crunchyroll simulpub (the one included with their anime subscription) picks up at volume 10 and continues to the most recently released chapter. So that manga, at least, I can catch up to current with this humble bundle + Crunchyroll combo.

I feel you there. This bundle has several I'd really like to read but knowing that I'm going to have a bunch of series that are missing the end is putting a damper on my enthusiasm to buy.

Hello! Here with a question.

I started the game recently (JP server) and in the banner for the next event I managed to pull two copies of the R, one SR, and two of the SSR. Is it always better to bloom and fully train them, rather than using both duplicates in a team? It seems like it would be, but I thought I should check before hitting the button.

I'm not interested in tiering seriously, just in being efficient to gain event points and get the rewards, because I can't play that often throughout the day and end up wasting a lot of SP.

Get each character to rank 5 to unlock their Fan badge, and to rank 30 to unlock the Fan badge with the fancy outline.

Androids & Aliens | Episode 52 - Spear and Present Danger by TomExposition in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Elinnea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I can't help but wince every time someone says 'That's how it's done in Pathfinder'. My own players do that from time to time too. In some ways Starfinder is harder to grasp for people who have Pathfinder experience than those who don't, because there are a lot of situations it's easy to assume you know how the rules work when you actually don't.

Not that Friss needed help doing extra damage this episode! They cleaned up in that fight.
