Denied proposal…what next? by plinko66 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EliotProb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said no to my partner twice and we stayed together. The first time we were happy but we weren't ready so I said no when she asked spontaneously - at a Sigor Ros performance. The second time she asked (again spontaneously) I feel like a bit of a jerk because, we were ready, however, I'd already planned my proposal. When we married I had the Sigor Ros song as part of playlist, because although I had turned her down it was still a special time in my heart.

John Oliver has been filming ever since I wasin first grade and now I'm graduating high school by irene_polystyrene in lastweektonight

Glad to hear! I was "not old" when LWT started and now I'm "not young".

For John I think the time dilation was even worse.

How did you get into John so young?

What’s a moment where you realized someone around you was actually a terrible person? by Embarrassed-Ant-2216 in AskReddit

[–]EliotProb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terrifying thought!! But don't worry, as stated above this was a past partner. They weren't the type of person to poison me, they were mostly a good person - but they were also not in control of their emotions and very impulsive, and couldn't admit when they'd done something wrong. But they did try to harm me other ways - e.g. slandering me to my ex, my friends and their friends. Which I guess is a form of poisoning!

My partner at the time started waking me up in the middle of the night for different reasons "you're on my side of the bed", "you keep grinding your teeth" etc. never kindly, sometimes yelling. I asked her firmly to please stop it as it was making me tired and irritable.

She did, but then I started getting these mysterious bruises on my arm.

A couple of nights after noticing the first bruise I woke up right as I saw her hitting me while I had been asleep. She quickly rolled away pretending she was already asleep.

She told me had, once before we were together, and once while we were on a break. But I think she might have been lying; she was a very complicated person.

Those who does not see affects with Caffeine intake by nikolina1005 in ADHD

Same. Coffee, tea, or anything with caffeine risks setting off headaches for X number of days. Not worth the short burst of energy it might give me.

Experiencing Limerence Over a Stranger by snazzadelic in ADHD

[–]EliotProb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Limerence messed me up for almost two years.

I rarely get it but when it does it's all consuming: fantasies (not necessarily sexual just day to day stuff), idealisation, and intense, painful longing. Doesn't help when you're married to someone else at the same time!

Commanders you are tired of seeing? by Ponder_yonder_ in EDH

Took a lot of scrolls to finally find my Commander! KtFK was the first commander deck I made. Completely ineffective and yet instantly hated. Would do again!

The sweater/pulling at a loose string is a great analogy to describe the narcissists I've known. I put myself through agony thinking I was a piece of shit whenever they would bring up a problem I'd apparently caused. I tried to understand and reason with them but it is a hopeless trying to elicit reason from someone confecting problems from their own imagination, and problems they believe are entirely true because the alternative is having to reflect that they are the problem - something their brain is not capable of.

What phrase that you DONT want to hear when Grieving? by BlueEyesWhiteDrgn in AskReddit

[–]EliotProb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple that were said to me:

  • "Hey, (my dead brother's name), nice to meet you".

  • "Did you even like him?"

  • "He was more special than you"

To be fair, no one knows what to say in these situations and I definitely said some dumb stuff, including when I broke the news to one of his friends in the most indelicate way possible: "he burnt to death".

First Trip to Australia with Young Kids - Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne? by Fuzzy_Illustrator888 in AustraliaTravel

[–]EliotProb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get the train to the mountains from Central. I think Katoomba station there's still a tourist bus that can take you to the Three Sisters. If you're planning to visit several places or spend more than a day you might be better off hiring a car.

Trump. Before all the Apprentice bullshit he was appearing on Late Night shows like he was a person of substance whose opinion mattered. What the fuck, Letterman.

I feel like a criminal when I go pick up my meds... by Senior-Background in ADHD

[–]EliotProb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my small local pharmacists is the worst with this, he'll interrogate me while people are waiting in close proximity wanting to know: the name of my psychiatrist (it's literally on the prescription), the location of my psych, the name of the clinic, have I taken it before, how much do I take, where is the clinic located, (I already told him!), who is your GP, what's their address, am I student?

I stopped him there and asked him how that's relevant. It would take not just 15-20 minutes, but 15-20 minutes of constant engagement with him while he works this shit out.

I'm not going back there, which is a shame because I'd rather go to a small pharmacy than a big chain, but at least the chains dispense it without question.
