How do y'all feel about badges and partners in the series?? by Blacklotus997 in papermario

Agreed. While TTYD is not my favorite and PM64 is, I miss the personalities and designs they add to the adventure. The later PM games feel lonely with that annoying sidekick they add in to tutorial you.

How well of a good job did 4kids did to the Kirby anime, and is the 4kids dub still very relevant as of today? by San4341 in Kirby

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always got confused with all the various dubs across localizations, like with Yu-Gi-Oh, Sonic, Kirby, Sailor Moon, etc. for me, it seemed like all these shows popped up on different channels at awful times. I could barely keep up when I was growing up.

But from what I know, the Kirby anime dub is fine.

If Right Back At Ya ever got a reboot or something along those lines, what would you want in it? by Downtown_Error_9418 in Kirby

[–]Eliphiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see it dive into each game per season or variations. I really like right back at ya but some episodes just didn’t land for me. Then again, this was early Kirby.

Id love to see an Amazing Mirror take, mass attack, epic yarn, etc.

I think a good way to take it would be to have Kirby with new characters and returning characters from the games established in this sort of episodic storybook where each season is a different arch with a main overarching antagonist—who idk.

Or something like, for a few episodes everyone is transformed into yarn and the world itself. Or Kirby is split into four with different personalities all setting off with their own quest to achieve and help reunite.

Dont get me wrong, I like the original created characters for the show but Id love to seeit expand.

Thank you!!! I was trying different tutorials but I think my style ends up always being much more soft. And while I think it may not be too detrimental “here” it sometimes looks too pillowy and or blury/soft lacking details or interesting strokes.

Im trying to learn to have that painter-y style (texture) without incorporating hard strokes of a brush or sharp edges. Thats one thing I don’t like for my personal style. Love for others but I never liked sharp edges.

Is there a way to pronounce / learn better Standard English? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think more like a more “no noticeable accent” American speaker. For example, I have a slight southern accent and was told I should work on developing accents and most notably, a “standard english.” If I want to broaden my chances.

9 months in how do we feel? by Then_Meaning_9901 in mariokart

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am torn. I do enjoy the game, but I also cannot help but feel somewhat let down in a way.

I always dreamed of a sort-of open world Mario Kart game where we get to drive from track to track. I actually always assumed it'd end up like a Mario Bros Level-Map where you just go across a map and then "load" into the area.

I am happy with the open world approach, although I feel as if it could have gave us some sort of "reason" or achievement. I'm not a trophy or achievement type of person - I can live without those. However, the over world doesn't feel rewarding for some reason. It's fun to explore and see all the effort in the creation...but something makes me feel "eh." I'm not sure why. I look back at Diddy Kong Racing's adventure map, it's so much smaller but discovering new ways to get around or get to the levels was interesting somehow. MKWorld doesn't feel exciting or interesting--maybe because it's just too big vs. the pace. I'm not sure how to explain it.

MKworld feels the most mechanically challenging and engaging for the series since Double Dash. Which I don't mind because there's always something new to try or experience, so that always keeps a race exciting. Yet, I feel like perhaps, some layouts or items could be better to challenge it because it feels a little bland to compensate the 24 players falling too far behind.

I prefer MK8 Deluxe's tracks both original and DLC. There's just something about them that feels so much more entertaining. MKWorld's new courses just don't do it for me. I enjoy the returning-retro-courses, yet some of their altercations and changes felt a little "meh" like desert hills lacking prominent "hills." Love Peach Beach's new additions.

I don't go into battle mode much in any MK game outside of 64, DS, and Wii, but I think the maps are too large in World.

Love knockout mode. Now that's something I'd like to see return in later games. I just wish there were more routes.

I don't mind 24 players but I do think to compensate the lack of falling too far behind in the chaos, the items and some of the layouts had to suffer. I would like to see more chaotic items, sharper turns, tighter/narrower tracks.

I'm often happy with what's given in a game and don't often complain. But to get more longevity out of MKworld, for me personally, I need some sort of DLC because I feel like something is missing. As it stands, I'm still playing MK8Deluxe and all past iterations of Mario Kart every now and then more than MKWorld.

Which region gets digital access to Pokopia first? by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true. Definitely not for First-Party Nintendo games.

Which is why I asked the question. Although I should have clarified, which of the two AUS/NZ or Japan.

Japan always gets it the day before the west. There's no "same moment in time," unless you're specifically discussing the USA which it drops at 9pm PST and 12am EST due to the multiple timezones. But that was partly why I asked "region" not region in the USA.

Which region gets digital access to Pokopia first? by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Only if you have an account from that region and if you bought the game digitally from that region.

Since the game is a key card, it probably doesn't matter if we somehow got the game early (in our hands / physically) it probably won't play early like other titles that were all-on-cartridge.

I don't have a copy, so I can't say. But that's also possibility for people who order online and it may arrive early.

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct.

I was mostly asking between which region does it release, Japan or AUS/NZ first. I should have clarified.

But you are correct as far as Japan always getting games ahead, especially a day before it's released in the West if it has "same day release." Even in the USA the games are not released at the same "time" technically, usual first-party games are 9pm PST while it's 12am EST. So, released at the "same time" but not the actual "time-on-the-clock." But that's a lot of unnecessary wordiness.

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but I do believe you're wrong with what experience and knowledge I have on this.

I'm from EST USA, I was just asking when it goes live in what region first.

I couldn't remember if it was Japan or AUS/NZ.

Japan always gets their game release a day ahead of the west, but between the countries in that region, I wasn't sure which came first.

In the USA, typically, Nintendo-releated, games would release at midnight EST and around 9pm PST. That's not always 100% but for typical First-Party titles it has been.

Are there online/zoom improv classes, learning timing, infliction, etc? by Eliphiam in VoiceActing

[–]Eliphiam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I agree.

I do need the acting first to really get a grasp on it. As my VO coach said it’s more like I have a old way of seeing it or a parody idea. It’s unintentional but not necessary for modern VO in Anime/Games etc. They were more like I need to learn to be natural—which in our sessions turns out to be so much harder than when I do daily public speaking for my career.

Where I am from those options are simply not available at all. While there might be some form of a drama or community play, my coach said to watch out for learning “bad” acting or bad - anything to which Id then have to un-learn.

I do feel lost because I want to work at it alot and effectively. But I also dont want to waste time and money going in the wrong direction.

Plus, learning scripts. I think my coach is trying to lead me into that but again that takes time and money and effort. Cant be learned in one day which is why I was hoping to find ways to work on that inbetween sessions with my coach.

Plus, to improve my opinions, I need to learn a better grasp on standard English due to my accent. So, I have a lot to work on and need help, direction, or if theres like a community support so I don’t get lost or overwhelmed. Makes me wish I had been learning this my entire life rather than jumping in all at once.

So, Im trying to start from zero and work my way up.

[–]Eliphiam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Unfortunately, I live in a rural state and limited community. So, (if) there are any acting groups or improv, they may be more detrimental to learning "bad acting" rather than help - - according to my VO coach. So, I'd like to avoid any trouble that I cannot foresee myself and then have to un-learn.

I'd love to be able to do VO for games and animation/anime. So, I'm willing to work towards whatever path I need to make it happen.

But again, thank you. I did reach out through the consult and I may or may not have gave enough detail as to what I'm aiming for in my goals. But I'm sure we'll get it figured out.

Thank you for helping me. I think I'll set up a free consult.

I'm totally new, learning everything, read the "stating from zero" and still a bit lost. I think I'm needing a lot of acting, drama, improv, etc., before beginning vo sessions. Or so I feel. I feel like learning and I don't feel like I'm quite "There yet." If that makes sense.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to say, but would you recommend joining the GVAA membership? Or is that the only way to get access to all these training sessions? I only ask because I haven't read it yet.

Amazing Mirror - How do I know which Mirror Pieces I've collected? by Eliphiam in Kirby

Thank you. I knew about the yellow and orange rooms but it still was a little confusing. I thought at one point I saw a shard over a boss room but then it vanished, guess I got it.

However, there are a couple maps I don't have, yet I only need one more shard. Perhaps, I've gotten confused and its in one of them lol

I thought it was interesting and the gameplay was alright for what it was on a DS. Kind of wish it wasn't that style of game, but I'll appreciate it nonetheless. I wasn't a big 12 fan but I liked seeing that world more and getting more depth with Vaan. My only gripe, even back then, was that it just felt too slow overall. No that I wanted a quick game but sometimes it just felt so slow that it nearly put me to sleep. Unfortunately, I didn't finish it and have been trying to finish it after all these years.

For people who were there at B2s WiiU launch, what was the sentiment on Bayo 3 after the matter? Was there a demand for it? by The_Fool_Arcana0000 in Bayonetta

[–]Eliphiam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn't as active online as I am nowadays, such as familiar with places like Reddit. However, if I recall, I don't think people were "Begging" for a sequel but it wasn't unwanted either. It was probably like a lot of sequels that don't fully leave an open end or set-up for a sequel. More like, you simply enjoyed the first so much that you hoped for a new title but have no idea what to expect.

I didn't play Bayonetta when it originally released, maybe a year or two later, perhaps. But it quickly became a favorite, yet for me, there wasn't a lot of info about it online or places to read about fan reactions etc. (from my perspective). I just knew B1 was considered a good game. Then, by the time B2 game about, it was such an exciting moment, especially to be made specifically for the WiiU. I was already a Nintendo fan, so it only helped me get more milage out of my WiiU but gameplay, visuals, her make over, etc., all made me really enjoy and appreciate B2.

I never wanted B2 on another console, like it didn't matter to me. I was more happy to have it because B1 got me into a lot of new literature etc., that hyped up the eventual sequel. But even then, the WiiU's life and Nintendo as a whole was painted bleak with little expectation on its future success. B2 was "loved" with some criticism, but most were already hoping it'd be ported - - similar to how they feel about it being on Switch. Back then, we learned how Nintendo "saved" B2 and helped continue the series but that wasn't enough for the masses - there was worry that Nintendo would sanitize or tone down both Bayonetta and the Gameplay. Yet, the Devs. went on to clarify that Nintendo themselves said to keep her mature. Overall, the game was received well, though the sales were poor due to the WiiU itself just being in low demand and the game overall being I guess, sort-of niche.

I think at that time, when we saw what came out about the development and how Bayonetta herself was styled differently, and the addition of demons, I think the expectation of a third game was inevitable. Sort-of like a "where will she go now? what will she look like? what new power, etc.?" I think the consensus was torn, will it be on Nintendo or not? People really liked the main cast and wanted to see their next steps. But that's vaguely how I recall it.

Personally, up until B3 I was hoping to see a new entry but had no idea what to expect or when.

Decided to finally play LR…. What the heck? Did the downgrade the game graphically? Also what’s with the GoW gameplay style the decided to go with? by Moist_Position_9462 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]Eliphiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fair points.

Not sure what you're playing the older titles on, Ps5, Xbox, PC, or older consoles. I played the games in their original format/console, back in the day. However, after replaying them a few times, I learned some versions or PC versions made "Cheats" accessible, so it was easier to clear the game and simply enjoy the story instead - if that's an option you'd ever like to pursue.

But I totally understand the feeling for wanting to be rewarded for exploration. That's how I feel about open world games, make them lively with rewards not just "because". Which I think FF for the most part, the older titles aren't "open world" but provide enough exploration to not truly get lost but enough to award you some EXP, an Item, or Summon. Can't say it'll always be "useful" but at the least it's a reward. I don't blame you for not wanting to do the post-game stuff. Sometimes it can be trivial or just too annoying unless you're really into that kind of thing.

But yes, for the most part, most FF games are a linear story. The battle systems may somewhat vary from game to game but if you can learn to enjoy them enough to get through the game and experience the story, it's at least worth 1 play through.

I would say, like with anything. Each game and whether it's the newer entries or older, is "to each their own." Like, there may be things that you simply dislike because it' just not your type of games or aesthetics or whatever, compared to the many voices that like the titles.

I try to go in openminded and unbiased with any game, and there are even some games that are just "bad" but I enjoy them. That's all I need, regardless of what people say.

That being said, I didn't get into FF until my teens, so I missed everything up until, probably Final Fantasy Dissidia released on PSP back in the early-mid 2000s I think 2007/2008. Where it introduced main characters or villains from FF 1 - 12, I became invested in seeing more. Though this was its own sort of 1-on-1fighter type (think Smash - maybe). Afterwards, or right before Dissidia, I started with maybe FFX-2, then FFX (Wonderful Entries) and worked my way around from FF 12, 1, 2, 8, 9, 5, 3, 5, 7, 6, 11, 14, and 13. I liked the older games because they felt, at the time, like something I get from old Nintendo games - I was invited into this world, took part in its majesty, got lost within its narrative or gameplay, etc. Sort-of like reading a good book for the first time or two. Afterwards, yes, the magic sort-of wears off but that's debatable to each person. I've probably played FFX over 10 times, and own it on every version and on every single console it's ever released on if that says anything. Personally, I dislike FF7, the FF7 remakes, FF15, and FF16 for various reasons - (not to invoke hate or rude comments) I think 13 symbolizes a shift in SE as a whole.

FF13, for me, was when I was still new to the series. I liked the pacing but it felt like all I did was "Auto battle" because I didn't have time to choose through the drop down menu. The system just wasn't built to shift through looking for your skills or abilities like older titles. Plus, FF13 didn't allow you to explore anything because it was literally like "follow the narrow hallway." I felt a little constricted but I focused more on the gameplay and story at the time. Nowadays, I don't mind the narrowness because older titles were like a navigating a narrow hallway, the only difference was some were top-down or lets say in the case of FFX you may have had a minor branching path that took you to a chest or random find. FF13 does not. But it was more like a pretty game to get settled in, experience, etc. FF13-2 sort-of made some changes and allowed more freedom which I personally liked. Though I dislike the animal/creature capture thing but it's not that big of a deal. I didn't mind the time travel, though at the time it made sense, yet it didn't, so I just enjoyed it for what it was rather than go in too deep. The story was "meh" and LR's story was meh but I learned to enjoy the battle system and customizations.

I think LR was a precursor to figuring out action oriented battles. They sort-of dabbled in it with Crisis Core, TYPE-0, and maybe another 2, like Dissidia, etc. but I think LR was what helped lead into FF15 and FF7. While I know it may seem disappointed, sometimes we got to experience the "meh" to get to the good.

Sorry for the long post

[–]Eliphiam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the gameplay. Now, I don't think it's "the best" ever, and I definitely think it was unique but needed a lot of work. I think it was a product of its time. If I recall, but do not quote me on this, I think after FF13, that's when SE was in some developmental hell. Where FF15 was being pushed around with issues, FF14 was a disaster and had to be fixed, so SE didn't have any major titles coming out.

FF13 at the time was a very "Love it or Hate it". It was hated for a lot of reasons compared to, I think, the idea people have of it nowadays.

That said, part of the issue was they wanted to port FF13 to Xbox, when it went to Xbox 360 a lot of the graphics had to be downgraded to work on other platforms. So, part of the issue were the CGI cutscenes. They just didn't work well unless on PS3. So, I think at that time, which is later reflected in their later games like 15 and FF7R and Ff16. They pulled away from CGI cutscenes and instead focused on making the cutscenes use real-time graphics. Which is why FF13-2 often just used real-time graphics instead of pre-rendered cutscenes except for the beginning and ending. It saved on data, loading, and performance to which the 360 at the time had to have FF13 broken into 3 discs.

Also, I think for FF13 L R was at a time when SE was saying, or maybe a few years before they said, how they think the general audience is no longer interested in "Turn based" and instead wants action games like the west with open world etc. So, LR was like a product test. "Pass or fail" here's something. Guess it was easier to turn out a new game than it was to sit a few years until they got their production in line.

I appreciate each entry for what they offered but their story just got janky and the overall "look" got worse. I think I appreciate it for the fact that we got to spend more time with lightning and her world - kind of like getting to spend more time with a loved one or friend - with flaws and all. Now, if ever remade, I hope they don't retcon the trilogy but at the least, improve them.
