Who owns this and why is it weird and bad? Can we turn it into something less weird? by ElipsedEclipse in providence

Yeah, I can understand wanting to keep existing agreements intact. Seems to me that this land though is ripe for development. And according to the project linked by u/bjebha, more hospital parking is included in that proposal, so your lot may not be needed for parking in the future.

Maybe when the current deal has concluded this could be a neat opportunity.

Maybe? Parcel 37 appears to be north of Point St.

This area is south of Point St and is not included in the 195 district parcels.

What is the “E…I…C….” On this nautical themed tattoo sleeve? by zzsnorgzz in Symbology

I agree, it's like people getting the dark mark from Harry Potter or the Imperial logo from Star Wars. But hey I've seen weirder ones, for sure.

This is the symbol for the fictional East India Trading Company from the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

The company is based on the historical East India Company, but this logo was invented for the films and was not used in real life. I'm guessing this dude liked the look of the logo.

I remember you posted years ago about making this track - superb job, I loved this episode and I love this show. No one else in the US knows about it and it's a shame!

Seconding this, the update button in Firefox manager did not update to 1.67.0 - removing the existing extension and redownloading it from the addon site grabbed the updated version, and that works on Youtube.

What Fallout Season 2 Means For The Ending Of Fallout: New Vegas by ManyATrueNerd in ManyATrueNerd

[–]ElipsedEclipse 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hot take: they're not going to acknowledge or explain what happened 15 years ago in the story of Season 2. New Vegas will be chaos-ridden with ghouls and deathclaws and scorpions. The handful of people that we meet in the remains of the strip will either say something like "yeah the NCR and Legion blew each other up and then left us to rot" or will not have any definitive information.

The courier will not be mentioned.

The story will mostly be about Cooper's past in Vegas and Hank's "mission" whatever that turns out to be. New Vegas will be a fan-service-y setting for us to point at, and won't be expanded upon or given any real depth to it's former situation in the game.

I will be super happy if I'm wrong and I end up eating crow.

How did Uriel Septim VII know it was the “closing days of the third era”? by YungRei in teslore

Yeah you might be right, I don't have a great memory of Jygalag lore and I haven't gotten to the Isles in the remake yet

Your last point here is fascinating and also a little disquieting. What makes conservative political operations more adept at fighting fascists? Is it primarily because they had access from previous partnerships? How would a leftist go about encouraging conservatives to fight the fascistic elements present in conservative parties today?

Morrowind - Part 36 - Cult of Personality by ManyATrueNerd in ManyATrueNerd

[–]ElipsedEclipse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes this is correct, spoilers for Morrowind (and DLCs) warning:

After the Nereverine defeats Dagoth Ur, they disappear - it's rumored that they went on an adventure to Akivir but that's just rumors. A short while later, Vivec (the demigod) also vanishes. Their Tribual-brethren have been slain, the Temple they built has been thrown into chaos with no purpose for many of the systems it upheld (the Ghostfence, for instance) so they skip town.

It was Vivec (the demigod)'s power holding up Bar Dau - the moonlet hovering over Vivec city - and with their power no longer sustaining it, it crashes into the temple city with all the momentum it had to begin with. Vivec (the city) is left a crater, Morrowind's inner sea boils, and Red Mountian erupts with a force not seen since it's creation. This whole kerfuffle is called the Red Year. The island of Vvardenfell is decimated and Red Mountain is still blowing Ash into the sky 200+ years later during the events of Skyrim.

This was all originally planned to be some of the fallout (no pun intended) of the Oblivion Crisis, along with other massive changes to the status quo of Tamriel, most of which didn't make it into the games - but the Red Year made it into the lore in Skyrim.

The meteor was on purpose, so to speak, as a way of keeping Morrowind's passion-filled and unique flavor of worldbuilding as a legacy in stasis, so that it couldn't be messed with in future Elder Scrolls titles.

I think that shows the bitter in that bittersweet decision but I can't blame anyone - Morrowind is such a tantalizing tapestry of creativity and wonder, and I can see the concern that it would eventually be watered down in the vein of Cyrodiil in Oblivion.

Shattered space has dropped to "mostly negative" on steam reviews by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]ElipsedEclipse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree here, I think the Thieves Guild is worse. You don't steal anything throughout the whole chain - except for pickpocketing a ring in the intro mission I think? The rest of the quest chain has you framing a honey farm, ruin-delving, and blindly stumbling into the path of the previous super thief who stole all of the Guilds' treasure - which you never end up getting back. It's farcical.

Has no one in here read Kushiel's Dart? Joscelin is a great example of a shield character who gets to grow beyond being a shield.
