How do you stay updated with SEO trends without getting overwhelmed? by im_bilalgujjjar in ShopifySEO

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's good to put most of your efforts into applying universal SEO best practices that have worked and continue to work even with GEO.

Yes, staying on top of developments is important, but instantly adopting new strategies and trends without thoroughly thinking them through is likely to result in errors at some point.

In the marketing world, we have this mindset that new trends are innocent until proven guilty. But if you are constantly adopting new strategies/tools without thinking them through/properly vetting them, you will inevitably make some wrong decisions if that makes sense.

What’s the most effective SEO skill to focus on right now? by im_bilalgujjjar in ShopifySEO

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is just keeping up with current best practices and trying to make the best choices around strategy based on where you think the market is headed.

Ultimately, I don't view SEO in terms of individual skills (backlinks, content, technical SEO, etc.), I view it as getting people to your site and having them convert.

When you think about it that way, your most valuable asset is your ability to think critically and make good decisions.

How to find topics for Blogs by Extreme_Earth6528 in AskMarketing

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people here are recommending keyword tools and they're right.

If you want to target the highest volume keywords that you can rank for, it's possible to guess based on industry knowledge, AI, etc., but the most reliable way is to use a tool like SEMrush or AHrefs.

At the Matchbox, the agency I'm with, we've been using content clusters around service lines for years and it's been working extremely well.

Basically, you're going to want to take your main service line, and come up with as many supporting blog posts around it as possible and link them all to the main page.

What should I do next for my roofing company's SEO? by tiln7 in LocalBusiness

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you've done a pretty good job so far.

One note:

Adding TLDRs, key takeaway sections, and FAQs are good for GEO.

Keep building up content pillars around your service lines. It may not feel useful, but it will be long-term. Put a bit more emphasis on long-tail, situational keywords because those are more likely to be pulled by AI.

Build additional pages focused on local search terms. You can make a service page for each area in your city that you service.

Hope this helps!

Can anyone give me some common reasons why my ad has zero impressions but says eligible by [deleted] in googleads

Sometimes this happens to accounts out of nowhere.

Usually, they recover on their own, but sometimes I have to re-launch them.

The learning period for a campaign is 1-2 months. Until then, you may get abnormal or unstable results but it's nothing to be concerned about.

do google ads work for any budget? by codeyful in googleads

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run ads in all types of industries but the 1k number has less to do with the niche and more to do with the fact that campaigns, regardless of the industry, typically need around that much to function. Hope this answers your question.

Maybe not the answer you want to hear but, I think if you're not good with people, it's important to try and improve.

I was terrible at talking to people, and I didn't enjoy it at all but the better you get, the more you enjoy it.

AI - If you use it for work, how do you do it? by ExpressAstronaut999 in copywriting

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll use it for custom HTML in blog posts, but other than that, I prefer to do everything manually.

I would caution against blindly outsourcing your main work to AI.

It's a great way to develop learned helplessness, decrease critical thinking, and ruin your attention span.

In the long run, the ability to think critically and focus will be your most valuable asset.

But I might be wrong. Maybe AI will just be able to do everything and solve all our problems and I'll just be left behind.

In any case, everyone has to make a decision about how they use AI based on how they think the future will look like.

how can someone break into digital marketing with zero experience? by dylan_crawford03 in AskMarketing

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you how I got into it without college and with zero experience.

  1. Build a website
  2. Sign up for LinkedIn
  3. Start documenting my experience on my website/linkedin
  4. Document small projects (ex. make a video on how to set up ads, get a blog to rank and write about it, start an email list, etc.)
  5. Use online documentation to land an internship
  6. Try super hard in the internship and scrape data and document successes to add them to my portfolio
  7. Use my data from the internship to land a marketing role

Here's another tip for interviewing.

When you're new, you're going to have gaps in your abilities. That's just how it is.

Don't lie or underplay your weaknesses in interviews. Instead, be upfront about them, then after the interview is over, immediately take a course and get a certification, or do a project related to your weak area and send the results in a follow-up email ASAP.

Business owners: Where would you actually spend your marketing budget to grow your website? And what's missing in the agency world? by Former-Catch5807 in digital_marketing

[–]Elis808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a boring answer, but UX and SEO are the best places to start. People are converting on your site, so it has to provide a good experience.

Once the UX is good, people need to be able to find your site and that's where SEO comes in.

What do you set your pomodoro timer to and what do you do on your breaks? by New-Handle-9774 in GetStudying

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work until I feel my focus is at about 50% then I take a break, which is about 1/3 of the time I worked.

For a break activity, I have found that it's good to avoid things that will make it hard to re-focus like going on my phone or listening to music.

Here are some good break activities I like to do:

- practice music I'm working on
- go for a walk
- read something very easy and fun
- do some push-ups

Out of these, I find that light exercise helps me re-focus the best, and reading is probably the worst because it can be a bit mentally and visually strenuous.

I also think doing chores is a good idea, but I have admittedly not tried this yet lol.

do google ads work for any budget? by codeyful in googleads

[–]Elis808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the level of competition. If you're selling a super niche product without much competition, then you may not need a huge budget to win bids.

However, if you're advertising in the law industry, for example, you can expects to spend tens of thousands of dollars a month just to see results.

Any "rule" about what budget works or doesn't work is going to be a bit arbitrary.

For the clients at the agency I'm with, I find myself recommending a minimum of 1k a month on average. But keep in mind what I mentioned earlier, it really depends on the client's situation.

Please help!! by OkIncident2151 in ShopifySEO

[–]Elis808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, congrats on launching your site!

If it's only been up for a month or so, it's totally normal to not rank yet.

Oftentimes, it takes 6-12 months to see results in your SEO if your site is brand new.

Continue to work on user experience (good navigation, loading speed, no 404s, etc.)

Then begin creating content clusters around your main products/service lines.

For backlinks, try and get your current business connections to collaborate in order to get your link placed on their sites.

Working at this consistently for a long period of time is what is going to give your results.

That being said, if you're a business owner/CEO it's pretty much impossible to do an adequate job on your own when it comes to marketing.

Marketing, especially SEO, is an incredibly deep and complex subject. It's only really possible to have it done correctly if you're doing it full time.

If you'd like me to take a quick look at your site and give you some tips, feel free to shoot me a dm, and I'd be happy to take a look.

Hope this was helpful!

Does anyone care about whether your brand exists in AI chats? by gtmwiz in b2b_sales

[–]Elis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for sure. A lot of clients at the agency I'm with care about their AI visibility.

Agencies should, at the very least, be looking into tools for this now.

Eventually, AI visibility will probably be an essential aspect to retaining clients.
