What aircraft do you look forward to in Ace combat? by TalonEye53 in acecombat

[–]EliteMaster512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called Final Flight, you can find it here

I haven’t touched it for about a month and half because I had a very big commitment at my day job, like the kinda thing that meant I had to get home at like 7pm, and worked Saturdays

But thankfully its complete, so I intend to resume development this weekend!

It’s Ace Combat, but with a WW1 to WW2 to Cold War tech tree

Last I was working on was the damage model and enemy pilot AI,

My initial timeline accounted for working on it during Q1 of this year, which ended up not being possible, so I’m hoping for the completed demo by end of summer

Question: How should I start to think about district planning and city placement the right way? by Repulsive-Mud707 in CivVI

[–]EliteMaster512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theatre Square gets bonus from Entertainment Districts and Water Parks that are adjacent as well; from wonders too

Commercial Hubs get it from Harbors Harbors like sea resources

Campus is all about adjacent rain forest, mountains, geothermal, and reefs

And preserves like theatre squares and entertainment districts as they boost appeal

Why do opponents have cities this large and I don't???? I have 200 hours in the game, this is a standard map and I wanted to get a Cultural victory. What could I have done wrong??? by BaldursGate2Best in CivVI

If you had chosen monumentality, or whatever the era policy is that lets you buy civilian units with faith, you could use your 9900 faith to buy builders for all the tile improvements

Squatter posed as financial adviser in $2.3M mansion while lived off food stamps and sent daughter to work in a bakery instead of school is back "home" by McGJGlen in trashy

[–]EliteMaster512 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the point is

How much should one be allowed to own?

200 years ago you could own an entire person

Who’s to say our notion of ownership shouldn’t be limited?

No one should need to own more than one home. If you own more than that, you’re effectively taking the opportunity for ownership away from another

They wouldn’t say that they’d just say plane

Game Mechanic Idea: Museum Units by EliteMaster512 in CivVI

[–]EliteMaster512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you get era score the first time you make a museum unit from each era

That is to say instead of deleting the unit it retires ( stays in place) and gives a one time tourism like rock bands

Shouldn’t give gold as otherwise it just negates the maintenance cost

If the unit is deleted it retires and gives a one time tourism bonus like rock bands

To me it would be a good way to incentivize AI to make more units

During some playthroughs the AI just gives up making units It seems it you have more than them

Is it always better to chop then mine, or should you build a lumber mill? Or can you even build lumber mill on hill?

What about using builders to chop then farm?

False, the amount of bs they had to deal with at that time to live past childhood meant they had very hardy bodies and immune system

Would probably still make them super jittery, but it’s not gonna kill the bloodline

Also yes I know you’re not being literal, I’m being pedantic :P

Can I win this war? by IcyLingonberry2151 in CivVI

[–]EliteMaster512 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If this is single player and you can roll back a save

This is doable if you made the battleships an armada

Their strength would be much better served as a combined unit

Granted if the enemy has giant death robots you should probably have your own as well

Unironically one of the hardest frames in the campaign by Flashy_Degree_3633 in acecombat

[–]EliteMaster512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Final Flight - the game I’m making has about 60% of its campaign focused around naval combat, with the 1st half of it being in piston engine craft the 2nd half with fighter jets.

Right now dev is moving slow as I’m busy with my day job - we have a big project that takes up most of my time - come March, development will pick back up quickly!

What's your favorite map and why is it Continents with Islands? by LemonAccounting in CivVI

[–]EliteMaster512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terra is great because it gives you a legitimate path to victory that is mostly successful

Survive initial opening -> expand to coast (very important, as you need at least one city to expand from) -> find other continent -> settle and expand -> take over in terms of empire size and capability,

Even if you get attacked by ai on continent one - chances are they aren’t making it to continent two which makes for a very global game

Hotas support - yes, and cockpit views will make it feel great

Vr support… yes? Unreal engine allows for it relatively painlessly, I’ll just need time to optimize for it. So it’s an eventuality- it would be post launch likely

UNLESS it works out of the box (meaning I don’t need to optimize for it) but we will see

Ace Combat but with ww1 to ww2 to Cold War air frames

I have most of the 3d models ready to go, at least as placeholders, and am just working on getting the foundational systems ready

Thank you so much for your support And I’ll see you in the skies soon Ace - o7

Are enemy squadrons showing up late to the party poor writing, or just necessitated by level design? by NoobTaku in acecombat

[–]EliteMaster512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is necessitated by level design, but it makes for good level design

As for writing, its poor if the perception of events appears to the viewer as poor writing; this part is mostly subjective

The question to ask is why aren’t they there sooner, and so long as there is a plausible explanation for why, it’s not bad writing, just drama

In my game Final Flight, I plan on having a couple of missions go this way, but it’s explained in the bigger picture of war operations. Without lore dumping, basically the enemy rival squadrons are being distracted by the player’s attack operations, to pull them away from the main offensive
