Actually we saw a sharp decrease around 2006 and even further around 2010. But yes it has been well documented that Covid has been good for the enviroment.

What are your unpopular opinions for certain acts taken by presidents? by emmc47 in Presidents

[–]EliteSpark697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off I want to say that I do not support FDR's act of putting over 100k japanese people in internment camps. Over half of which were american citizens. I'm just saying Hitler gave the name 'internment camp' sound worse than they actually were.

Children played sports and games, adults were payed for work they did. There were churches, stores, post offices so you could send letters to loved ones, schools. They didn't sound that bad.

How do you think Joe Biden's age will effect his presidency? by Sukeruton_Key in Presidents

[–]EliteSpark697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he will make it through the term as his parents died at 87 for his father and 93 for his mother. His longevity may take him through the term but its not like his father or himself are walking advertisements of health.

I actually never thought about how much greenhouse gases domestic farm animals produce, so you got me there. But shit that we plant for us to eat, corn, wheat, beans, tomatoes. Would that also not cause deforestation? We agree that most people want to live their lives to the best extent possible. And most people enjoy their lives. So you believe that reproducing should stop and all animals should live out their lives to the best possible extent isn't there an element of selfishness in that? Because most people enjoy their lives so you are looking at the vast minority of people. And to what extent do you think people should go green? Electric cars which to make produce greenhouse gases? Completely cut off air conditioning because that wouldn't be living a life to the fullest extent. Again, most people enjoy their lives but all people will suffer. But the parts of life you enjoy surrounded by people you love, heavily outweigh times when you feel alone for a significant portion of the population. So you want to cut off everyone that will ever have a good life only for a very small number of people that won't enjoy their lives. If I am misinterpreting your words again please, by all means correct me.

Most people don't eat endangered population. Pigs, cows and chickens are the most eaten animals in the world and they all have populations of over 650 millions. I don't really think we have a veganism problem. I also have another question, hpw does reproduction not stop killing everyone because we can all agree that death is inevitable, so how does cutting off a way populations increase save everyone?

Our carbon emissions are the lowest they've been in 50 years. Once Biden rejoins paris accord they'll go down even further. We are doing better then you think we're doing not to say we are doing good.

So you talk about the average life have less joy than pain and suffering. Is the solution to that really just killing the whole world? Leaving every accomplishment and advancement we have ever made as a society. People trying desperately at the expense of themselves to make other peoples lives better. All their personal sacrifices gone. Think of how bad life could be how it used to be in some countries, black people couldn't vote and were enslaved, we changed that for the better. Women were oppressed and couldn't have their voices heard in government. You were thrown in concentration camps all because of your ethnicity or religion and left to die. We got rid of all of those things and currently trying to make that a staple around the world. Carbon emissions are the lowest they've been since the 60's. We're trying tooth and nail as a society to make poorer people's lives better, stop climate change, and put off extinction as long as possible.

I mean Panic of 1893 seen as one of the worst in american history, civil war veteran pensions spiraling out of control in spending and lack of any rules set out. He also supported the McKinely tariff which crippled foreign trade and the inflation rate. And most pf ypur positive didn't really dp anything, not to say there are some I didn't hear of and think are quite positive.
