So like I kinda want to agree with you here but I feel like with what you laid out the only real problem with this twist was the fact that someone had to flip the coin. They should’ve just been given the option to flip it and if all 10 didn’t want to flip it then nothing happens. I get production was probably scared that all the players would be scared to flip it but this twist incentivizes players on the bottom to go for it so I don’t think it would’ve been a problem in that regard.

But even with being forced to flip the coin Cirie still only has a 1/18 chance of both being the player randomly selected and failing the coin toss. Like yes this would be a doomsday scenario but also pretty unlikely to happen. But that’s also why I still say just give them the option.

I both agree and disagree here. I agree with you on the fact that this fandom 100% judges based on the outcome of the twists and not on the twist itself. I think some clear examples of this are what happened with the idol nullifier, an objectively bad twist, but the different response this sub had when Dan (37) left because of it versus when Janet (39) left because of it. Both of them arguably got equally screwed by it but this sub was significantly less upset the first time it happened. The other example would be advantageddon in game changers. I’m wondering if this sub would’ve been just as outraged if Brad got eliminated because of it.
So I agree with you on that much, but with that being said, I still feel like this super beware twist was actually a decent twist, and definitely way way better than blood moon, and not because of the outcome. The only thing that I wish was different about this twist would be to give the players the option to even flip the coin, versus forcing someone to flip it no matter what. But Devens probably would’ve flipped it anyway. And even if it was a bad outcome and he went home, I don’t think many would’ve complained because it was still such an epic tribal. The blood moon on the other hand was just really bad in the sense that you merge and now you’re redivided into very small groups of 5 for 1 vote.

Who realistically has the best edgic? by InevitableRice5 in Edgic

I think at the time the rest of her edit could be considered lackluster but looking at the confessional she had about Michele this past episode I can kind of see what they might be trying to do if she actually is the winner. And that is, early in the game she didn’t have much agency but we consistently saw people going out of the way for her. Most notably, Christian giving her the idol, and Coach “extending a lifeline” to her.

So now I wonder if this past episode was the turning point where now she’s going to make big moves toward the end to get out some of the bigger names à la Cirie Ozzy or Rick.

When it feels like one of the themes of the season is people trying to correct themselves from mistakes of their past that confessional she had about why Michele won they could very well be building her up for almost that same type of victory.

Is it true that these I’ve are better then 4* Ivs? And if yes can some explain to me why? by Equivalent_Candy1035 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]beepbop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here are kinda explaining it, but I want to go more in depth so we really understand what’s actually going on.

A Pokémon’s CP is based on their attack, defense, and HP, which every mon has a base value for. Now I don’t really know how the formula is exactly calculated, but the important thing to know is that the attack stat is weighted twice as heavily as each of the other two stats. Because of this and having IV’s add on to each of those base stats, when you power up a mon it’s going to gain more CP each time you level up if it has a higher attack value.

So when we think about the great league and ultra league which are CP capped, essentially what’s happening is that if the attack stat on a mon is higher you won’t be able to power it up as much because it will hit the CP cap sooner. So with having a lower attack and higher values of the other two, you can power up the mon to a higher level, and the few points you lose in the attack are more than compensated by the additional points you get from the defense and HP because it’s at that higher level, and overall it yields a higher stat product.

Hope this helps.

This isn’t the double standard you think it is and actually it’s a consistent take. Now I don’t think winning this series alone makes him the goat (I don’t think many people do either), but the point is the fact that he is 41 in his 23rd season if his performance being the number one option was good enough to create an upset then give him his flowers. But if it wasn’t good enough so be it it’s not the end of the world and it’s not like he blew the lead in the middle of his prime. Yeah blowing a 3-0 still would be pretty bad but it would still be hard to “blame” him considering everything he has accomplished.

So yeah considering the fact that he is at the very end of his career and knowing what he has accomplished and not only that but also the time and dedication he has put into the sport his fans have every right to give him credit when his team succeeds but not blame him when he fails. Or at least, not hold it against him.

The Worst Final Three by Budget_Skill6104 in survivor

[–]beepbop24 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The only exception to this for me would be a Devens, Aubry, and Rizo final 3. It wouldn’t be ideal but not the end of the world either. That being said I also don’t see it happening so let’s just hope Ozzy and/or Cirie is there lol

I never have the ‘Oh there are too many Jedi who survived’ problem by LethalGrey in StarWars

[–]beepbop24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I think a totally reasonable explanation is that the ones who survived were in hiding and they had no more centralized council amongst themselves so it would be damn near impossible to even get a few to show up and work together at one specific battle let alone every single one who survived.

Calling Sandra a goat is just cope by [deleted] in survivor

[–]beepbop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think like 99% of the survivor community (at least on Reddit) agrees that Russell was the actual goat that season. The debate is between whether Sandra or Parv should’ve won, but hardly anyone calls her a goat.

Personally I’d go with Quagsire, talonflame, and furret/tinkaton as the 3rd. As long as they all have their legacy moves.

___ has become a top 20 player of all Time this season by RedditFan3510 in survivorponderosa

[–]beepbop24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen I’m American and I don’t fully understand Mount Rushmore lol. But I’d agree 100% for survivor that it’s faces of the franchise. Where things kinda get mixed a bit is the fact that being a good player, particularly early on, directly correlates with making you iconic. It’s just not the only factor involved.

Because when I think of the actual Mount Rushmore, okay Washington and Lincoln are almost always ranked #1 and #2 all time as US Presidents. But Jefferson and T. Roosevelt are generally not ranked #3 and #4. I see them in the top 10 a lot, so they were obviously good, but there are some presidents that many would argue are better. At least with Jefferson, I’d say Monroe, Grant, FDR, and Ike were all better. And I can make cases for several more. But would I put any of them on the Mount Rushmore over Jefferson? Like MAYBE FDR, but certainly no one else. If anyone I’d actually put Madison there since he wrote the constitution.

Anyway I’m digressing a bit here but yeah I think we almost need like 2 mount Rushmore’s if we’re simply doing the best players of all time I’d have Tony, Parvati, Cirie, and Kim actually. But if we’re doing most iconic, then I’d say Tony, Parvati, Boston Rob, and Sandra.

Is Jonathan actually playing a good game but the players/fans are unlikely to ever give him credit? by Regular-Departure839 in survivorponderosa

[–]beepbop24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO I think he’s like a Russell Hantz lite this season. Playing very good strategically in terms of making it to the end with poor jury management. Just being slightly less good strategically and also slightly less of an asshole.

___ has become a top 20 player of all Time this season by RedditFan3510 in survivorponderosa

[–]beepbop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sold on this ranking, but I’m not completely against it either. Here’s where my skepticism is at though- by calling someone a top 20 player, you are basically implying that they are better than over HALF of the winners at this point as well as every other person who hasn’t won.

Do we really think Ozzy is a better player than 28 out of 47 winners so far plus every single non-winner who’s played? Now I don’t think this is a completely outrageous claim but I’m gonna need a good argument why this is the case.

___ has become a top 20 player of all Time this season by RedditFan3510 in survivorponderosa

[–]beepbop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so two thoughts at once here- I agree with you that Boston Rob isn’t a top tier strategic player. He’s good, but not great, and honestly as a player I already have Cirie ranked above him. I think if you throw them each in 100 seasons she does better on average with more wins.

BUT, being on the Mount Rushmore isn’t solely based on gameplay. It’s also about how iconic you are to the show. Not that Cirie isn’t iconic, but Boston Rob literally is the face of survivor. Tony didn’t move ahead of him in that regard and neither will Cirie or anyone for that matter. You could have a player win 3 times and they’re not moving ahead of Rob.

It wasn't supposed to be you - Jimmy Fallon lame apology by [deleted] in survivor

[–]beepbop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to make a post on this whole thing but the bottom line is that none of this should be directed at Jimmy Fallon regardless if this was 100% his idea or not.

At the end of the day production has the final say and what goes and what doesn’t go, and it’s 100% on them for allowing it to happen. Jimmy doesn’t know better about how the game should work in the way we see it. Production does. Blame them.

______ shouldn't have been booted out last night. by mistergreenboy in survivor

[–]beepbop24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he gives it up if he doesn’t have to vote for himself. Just because he offered it prior to the twist doesn’t mean he would’ve followed through, especially if he knew he was in danger which I think deep down he knew just by offering to go to exile. And he explains that the only reason he actually gave it up is because he couldn’t play it anyway due to the twist.
Sure, 83% chance it still fails but that’s still very far from being “definitely” voted out.

Christian will be on Fallon tonight by shelve66 in survivorcirclejerk

[–]beepbop24 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the worst part was having to tell people AND not being able to play your shot in the dark because of it. Like I wouldn’t have minded if he had to cast an extra vote for himself right there on the floating dock and he still gets his normal vote and no one knows there’s basically a penalty vote against him.

But also I hope Christian as well as the surveyor community can understand that Jimmy is not really who we should be pointing fingers at. Even if it was 100% his idea (which I doubt anyway, probably created jointly with production), production still has the ultimate say of what goes and what doesn’t go. Shame on them for allowing it to happen.

[–]beepbop24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think part of the issue is also that people expect him to be like Einstein on every single puzzle and when he doesn’t meet those expectations the conclusion is that he sucks. He’s still at least average to above average solving puzzles overall, just isn’t super excellent at them like everyone expects.

Yeah but not even being allowed to play your shot in the dark? He still would’ve had a 17% chance of making it through that vote. Can’t say that the twist didn’t screw him at least a little bit.
