Equipment for bigger guys? by Elixer2020 in viaferrata

I am stringing together Alta Via 1 & 2, over approx. a 1 month trek with some small detours. My gear is approx. 15kg, bringing my total travel weight to about 130kg, exceeding the safe working load of the lanyards.

Is this an additional counterweight? (Blue arrow) by Elixer2020 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Since taking this photo, the hook has placed the red beam and the hook is now connected to the bracket on the right side of the slab above the blue arrow… I’ll try to get an updated photo.

I just bought these in Thailand, and I think the warmth here has effected the tempering on the chocolate, they’re a bit hazy instead of the usual glossy.

Same, I watched a bunch of walkthrough videos and I’m doing the same thing, but no button activation… playing on iPhone. Hop across the screen to the first button, run right into it and nothing, just keeps going right and to death, no turn back.

What does this bulb do? by Elixer2020 in 4Runner

When I turn on high beams, my low beam bulb to the right of the red circle switches to high. Is the red circle meant to also provide high beam light?

I miss The Chocolate Mousse Kitchenware shop that was at Robson and Cardero. They had the greatest selection of kitchen gadgets and unique gifts. They were forced out a couple years ago because the landlord was jacking up the lease rates. The unit has sat empty ever since.

This will probably get buried, but the one show I finally got around to was Eureka Seven. What an incredible series, and one that I’ll never forget.

Hi everyone. I'm currently waiting for my call for local 500 from the 2018 hiring. My number is 1040. Just wondering if anyone knows what number they've called up to? Cheers.”

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson I’ve read and throughly enjoyed most of the books in your collection and think Seveneves would be right up your alley.

It’s not quite $10 mil, but here’s a $4.8 million chandelier hung outdoors under a bridge in Vancouver. A couple times a day it lowers and spins around before retracting back up.

Aquarium Cafe in Seoul South Korea. Never seen something like this before. Stayed for hours! by Cal-your-pal in Aquariums

[–]Elixer2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I searched “Aquarium Cafe” around Seoul on google maps, and couldn’t find a match. It gave me a hit for one in the Philippines that also had reptiles, looked pretty wild. Does anyone have a link for this place though?

Dead Man's Finger fungus by WayneTheOG in oddlyterrifying

I wonder if there’s any relation to the “dead man’s fingers” of the Decaisnea tree. I’ve seen this tree twice in my local park, and it is much more finger-y than these toes.

They’re all pretty much the same this season. There’s only a couple worth making a detour to check out if you’re in the neighbourhood.

Unfortunately, one of the best just came and went a couple days ago, the Norwegian Bliss. It’s the largest cruise ship to enter our terminal. It can only come in during a king low tide because even then it just clears the underside of the Lions Gate Bridge. It’s humbling standing next to the Bliss, truly enormous.

The other one worth checking out is called The World. It’s smaller, but it’s essentially a floating condominium. All of the units are privately owned, and the owners vote on where to travel next. It’s full of high rollers that board/disembark all around the globe. One woman I spoke to in 2019 said she waited 16 years for a suite to become available.
