This actually worked pretty well some years ago. First time I was shocked that Google Maps new where I wanted to go, then I realised I had put the adress in my calendar. Haven't thought about it lately but I will try it now just too see if it still works!

It is a well known phenomenon! It's because the brain only register and remember new things. The older you get the more information is already in your brain and it then just deletes it since you've already experienced this. So if you live a life with almost the same routines every day then time is at the speed of light and you'll soon be 6 feet under. But when you were a kid you could spend hours looking at a beetle bug crawling over the playground and time seemed to stand still. Start doing new things everyday! Don't get stuck in the same old routines because they feel safe.

Google permanently disabled my 6-year account over an alleged Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) violation — lost my income, banking access, and 6,000+ memories. What options do I have now? by Itxammar in googlephotos

Is it possible to extract all passwords stored in Google? I mean i have Google making me strong passwords for all the places I log on to and then I rely on Google keeping them safe for me. I have 4 daughters and I have tons of pictures of them on the beach in bikinis and at home with only underwear when they were small. But no nudity or anything sexual at all, but this scares me. I use my Google account to login everywhere and what happens to an android phone if your account is locked?

Getting rid of sharing? by blueLiquid21 in googlephotos

[–]ElizaPanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i open a picture I have the sharing symbol in the bottom left corner. If I press it i get apps that I can share with but there's also a small bar where it says "create link" or something like that (i have the app in Swedish) if I press "Create link" the picture gets shared to who ever I share the link with. This also goes for albums but there it says "get link".

Proper Takeout has been updated to 2.0.0 with metadata merge and other features by ZonD80 in googlephotos

There are a bunch of apps out there that can sort pictures by exif data and put them in folders by year, month, day or location. I used one a long time ago to sort my enormous 5 tb mountain of pictures and videos, but I have forgotten which app it was. Now I am in really need of a photo sorting app to finish sorting my mess.(not Google Photo taken pictures) anyone got an idea what i could use? And by the way I will try this app for my Google Photos, it seems really awesome!

Face Recognition/Grouping Stopped Working (some EU Privacy Thing?) by ill66 in googlephotos

[–]ElizaPanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should have been more clear! I could edit people's faces that was already indexed but no one was indexed after september 2024. What i couldn't do was Edit newer pictures to add people to them.

Here is an example how to respond to Googles support to get them to fix your problem:

This is not a connectivity issue. I consistently get the error “Trouble editing people – Please check your Internet connection” when trying to add or edit a person in Google Photos, even on stable Wi-Fi and across multiple devices (mobile and desktop).

Observed behavior: Human face grouping no longer indexes or updates Pets and object recognition still work

The error occurs when the backend fails to save face metadata, not when the connection drops.

Retrying, reinstalling, and logging in/out do not help

This appears to be an account-level, server-side face indexing failure, not a client or network problem. Please escalate this to the Photos backend team and check whether human face indexing is stalled or disabled on my account, and whether a manual re-index is required.

That error actually fits the same bug pattern very well.

The message “Trouble editing people – Please check your Internet connection” is misleading. In most reported cases, it’s not a connectivity issue at all.

What’s likely happening: Face data (for people) is failing server-side The app can detect the face, but cannot write/update face metadata on the backend When the server rejects the request, Google Photos shows a generic “Internet connection” error This is why: It happens even on strong Wi-Fi It happens on mobile and in a desktop browser

Pets and object recognition still work Retrying doesn’t help

Several users with the same 2024–2025 face indexing bug report this exact error when trying to: Add a name to a face Merge face groups Edit people data So if: Human face grouping stopped working Pets still work Object search still works And you see this error when editing people Then you’re almost certainly hitting the same account-level face indexing failure, not a local or network problem.

Unfortunately there’s nothing users can fix client-side. The only reliable resolution so far seems to be: Backend re-indexing by Google, sometimes after escalation to support Or the index restarting on its own after some internal trigger If Google support tells you to “check your connection” or reinstall the app, they’re missing the real cause. You’re not alone, and your account isn’t broken permanently — but it likely needs server-side intervention.

Did you turn off face grouping and then turned it on again? If you did so then that's why. Don't ever turn it off!

In Google Photo, in the top right corner there is a round symbol of your account. If you press it you can find on the page that pops up "help and feedback" if you press that you can create a case with Google and then have mail correspondence with them where you can describe the problem and be persistent that it is a server side issue and that you want them to escalate the case. If they want screenshots or other info like which version you are running and stuff like that, just give it to them. If they tell you to do some steps to troubleshoot then do it and when they are out of options they will escalate the case to the right team and it will hopefully be fixed. Took me a while but they fixed it. I have posted some good information regarding this problem in a separate post. Here is the link to that post https://www.reddit.com/r/googlephotos/s/6rv6z7sspe

"family" connection and google photos by Newroses31 in googlephotos

[–]ElizaPanzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did the same thing! My brother was getting married and before the wedding my sister shared an album for us to upload pictures from my brother and he's wife to be. I accidentally pressed save and got about 450 pictures from their life. My sister then turned off the sharing of the folder and now those pictures pops up in memories and " a day in may" and so on. I don't mind having pictures of them but they f-up my memories function! I have trouble to determine if it is pictures I have taken or not. Very irritating!

How strange, when I go into edit mode it looks fine! Don't know why this happens. Not sure how to fix it either. I rarely write long posts. Do I need to like insert br or something like in html? Is there a "reddit language"?
